DHS Rumor Confirmation?

You know, I wonder if this is all sort of linked to Universals coaster that extends past the front gate? Is that adding fuel to the fire?

In any case, if Disney builds three coaster like attractions and they have the typical Disney theming, then I would be just fine with that sort of direction. Right now the studios is our least favorite park and we always give it no more than 1/2 a day's time, including an evening for Fantasmic. I would just hope that they keep the coasters smooth enough for most folks to ride (No more RNR type of head bangers) so that everyone in my family can ride. Right now RNR and Mission Space are the only rides in the 4 parks that my wife can't ride. We visit Disney for the inclusive nature of its attractions, and that's why we seldom visit Universal or IOA.

Anyway I am tossing salt due to the highly reliable information that usually comes from Transportation. It's fun to chat about it tho.

Nothing to do with Universal's new coaster.. Nothing of the sort will be at DHS.. I think something like that at DHS would be hideous... The bus terminal isn't going anywhere...

I don't think it will happen either but I just don't like that certain people expect everyone to believe something just because they say it.

It doesn't matter who ends up saying it. It doesn't take rocket science to know that this rumor is crap. Everyone should believe it, because he's merely stating the obvious. Like I am now.

Sounds to me like Festivus has been punk'd. :hammer:

Just got back from WDW this past Tuesday, had a great time. I was told a very interesting rumor while there. I cringe to say I heard it from a bus driver, but later an employee at Tattooine Traders confirmed what the bus driver said. I figured I would ask here and see of anyone here has also heard it. Here goes:

The long term plan for DHS over the next 5-10 years is to remove/relocate the bus terminals in front of the park and repace them with 3 coasters. The plans for this have already been approved, but have been put on hold because of the economy.

I've heard this too, actually (likely the same bus driver). I shrugged it off and highly doubt it, but you never know.

I have to agree with the naysayers on this particular rumor. Having been backstage behind Indy/Prime Time, there is no effective pathway to move enough guests into this area (the bus stops) from within the park without some serious demolition of existing in-use structures. Martin's got the right idea (as usual ). There's a ton of currently unused space leftover from the days of it being a "working studio" that can be reworked from Cat Can to World Drive and then on to the parking structure. There is also a large surface parking lot backstage between ToT and RNR that I don't recall being mentioned before.

Like I said I thought it was stupid as well.

This rumor is so stupid. First off this bus Terminal that you speak of is also where the handicap parking is so putting a roller coaster there would not only be stupid but it would be illegal because I know they wouldn't move the enterance of the park for this so moving the handicap parking back behind the bus terminal would put it too far away by legal terms.

1. It wouldn't be illegal, provided the handicap parking is relocated to a location within a suitable distance of the park entrance... There isn't anything illegal about moving handicap parking as long as the spots are still close enough to the main entrance.

2. Parking is the last issue preventing the park from putting a rollercoaster in front of Hollywood Studios... Just look at Six Flags and Cedar Fair--they consider parking lots to be theming!

Truth be told, they won't be ripping up the bus lot for a new rollercoaster... Rather, a new expansion of the monorail. My friend who is the brother of a monorail driver's cousin that works at Stitch's Supersonic Celebration told me so right after he told me that the monorail would make its way through the center of the Swan and Dolphin...

It must be Summer... :brick:

Yes, because the handicap spaces at MK are right next to the entrance, am I right?

If expansion is needed, in my opinion you can get enough space to create a whole new land if you get rid of the Beauty & the Beast theater (look at how much empty space is behind the theater on Google map), and even a lot more if you fill-in part of the canal behind it!

Come on, you're better than that. That's the type of stuff I'd expect from the teenagers on these boards... oh wait.

Seriously though, when we have threads like these that are obviously unfounded, can't we just get them closed?
