DHS New Fireworks Launch Area

I have seen wishes from a VIP watching location where they control the sprinklers and close prox fireworks it was defiantly interesting, and to see what powers the fireworks system. Let me just say an older version of Windows.

Probably still more up to date than IllumiNations. I think that's still on Windows 95 and 98.

Epcot used to do this but has removed all computer chips from the shells. Even the shells along the seawall at Epcot have a lift charge. They used to be air shells but they scrapped it.

Actually, only three shells in RoE have ever used air launchers: the opening comet and then the dual explosions that follow. All other pyro in the show has always been traditional lift charges.

I think Disney should use a lot more close prox in the show in addition to the larger shells. As a Pyrotech myself I love being close to the action. Small fall out is ok and unpreventable. Larger isnt as much fun LOL. You should see some of the fallout I was hit with one day at Kingdom. This is what came down in Magic Kingdom one night.

Looks like from a good sized cylindrical shell. I would estimate a 6"

It was a particularly windy night. Many shells were inhibited during the show. This fluttered down and bonked my friend on the leg as we watched near the Rose Garden.

Like that has ever happened before. Now DHS can get their own screaming CM'S. On an aside, it is pretty neat when they flood the roofs around Philharmagic.

Yes it is pretty cool looking. I snapped a quick pic back in July with a low-light photo app on my phone one night by Harbour House. You can see the sprinkler mist right near the wooden shingles.

Unless of course the Chinese Theatre wasn't the focal point of a night time show. Remove a few redundant areas and the park could have a whole new plaza type area. We know there's a lot of demo planned and that TSL won't go as far north as the parking garage and adjacent areas.

Further to my last post, that still doesn't answer the closeness of World Drive. ALF wouldn't solve that either.
Close to World Drive, yes.

What if they launch a few degrees backward opposite World Drive? If there enough fallout area in the direction away from DHS?

Or, a play on words to the post above, what if they were to CLOSE World Drive during fireworks time, detour to Buena Vista? I know, outlandish, but not impossible, how long is an actual fireworks display anyway?

Nope. Fallout is wind driven. Not to mention smoke on the highway, distracted drivers and the like.

Other things are slowly falling into place. This however is strange.

They use to do fireworks over the theater to movie theme songs from Raiders of the Lost Ark and such. Was really great and I miss it. Hope this may mean it comes back in a more permanent way!

Sorcery in the Sky suffered from crowd control issues. Basically half the park had to be closed to show fireworks in a park not originally designed for them.

With more permenant and frequent shows indeed in the plans this could be the start of something like that.

That's akin to closing I-4.
Speaking of I-4 (plus one) just curious, though I know it's not nearly as close as this World Drive construction plan, but how close is Disneyland's fireworks launch site to the 5 freeway? I imagine it cannot be too far.

Far enough away. The DL site uses a lot of backstage for its high lift fallout area.
