DHS Makeover - What we know so far.....

I think someone mentioned a rumor that the entrance to Toy Story Mania might change too...maybe as part of the current Mania expansion/construction project.
Yeah I believe it's been said the entrance would be changed to be on the walkway with the blue line.

So, am I totally justified in sitting here all day reloading the page, or should I seek professional help?

Well, what questions do you have?

Because my first bit of advice is to go outside, run, jump and play. The second bit of advice is not to jump on Oprah's couch. And lastly, I suggest you enjoy your favorite things at DHS sooner rather than later.

Sadly today is a day absent of running, jumping, and playing, and instead one of fervent work trying to dash across a finish line, with a couple of breaks built in to check for news.

I'm just curious to see what sort of attraction menu is planned for the redo - I'm assuming most of the park will be gone. As long as GMR and Muppets stick around I'll be fine (and Tower and RNR, even if rethemed, but I'm pretty sure those are safe). Anything else is, to me, fair game. I'd love to see them transform the park totally, like a phoenix from the ashes.

I'll be in WDW this January to run the Marathon, so I'll be sure to grab a ride on everything just in case. I think more than anything I'm antsy to see what's coming than what's going.

Well, last I heard... GMR was safe. Muppets? Havent heard anything either way.

January will be too late for Voyage.

That's a small shame - I'm a puppeteer with a penchant for Blacklight effects, so it would have been nice to see Mermaid one more time. That said, I know it's time has come and gone. That it's survived this long is impressive (well, maybe there's another word for it . . .)

It's time for something new.

I hope you don't think that I am saying it isn't warranted. Maelstrom was only popular when first opened and a few times when it was rediscovered over the years, but, it still wasn't much of a draw. I think that it is a good place to have it and I do not hold on to the idea of what the original intent of Epcot was, that is the past... it is no longer focused that way whether we like it or not.

All I have been saying is that I don't think that the capacity rate will be as bad as everyone is imagining over time. It will be at least 20 years before it can even be considered a classic. One cannot automatically call something a classic, it has to earn that title by remaining that way for a number of years. Time will tell. As I said, it's going to be a nightmare when it first opens up, but, I think it is going to decline, especially if the next Frozen movie does not shine through like the first one did and we all know that sequels are iffy at best.
What I haven't seen or heard from anyone was the redevelopment of the Mexico Pavilion ride. Remember that it was re-themed. Got some popularity at first then it faded. After the second movie comes out give or take the current five year olds get into high school, Frozen will no longer be popular and we have a new Disney Princess. As for the current state of EPCOT, it is loosing it's identity. It's a sad thing but yes slowly but surely the park is going family friendly. But do expect the next 5-10 years Frozen: The Ride will garner large crowds at the Norwegian Pavilion.

Oh you're not getting an attraction menu/lineup anytime soon. Trust me, people aren't risking their jobs for that.

My one big question at this point is whether anything not Pixar or Star Wars will come to DHS. With the budget size of the expansion I feel like there is probably going to be something else, but we've heard no leaks of anything different.

Has Ariel become any less popular with all the Princesses that have come since? They're still making plenty of money off of her -- more than enough to justify the addition of a whole new ride more than 20 years out from the film's release.

I agree that Frozen will not be as popular in the future, but it will still be more than popular enough to warrant its own attraction, no matter what comes along. The Frozen sisters didn't erase Belle and Jasmine and Cinderella from anyone's minds, they just gave people more characters to love (or hate) and more merch to buy.

I also do agree that Frozen in Epcot is a big thematic mistake. Doesn't mean the ride won't do blockbuster business . . . whether it can handle it or not . . .

I'm very curious about this too. I hope they bring it a good variety of IPs aside from these two we've already established.
