:)

I think Dave is saying that they are not happy about the leaks. If they are dumping this much capitol into a project they will want to announce it on their terms with all the media attention and excitement they can muster... not have it slowly leak on the boards. If I am wrond Dave feel free to correct me:)

Essentially it's like the little boy with his finger in the dike.

Willow won't like that one bit.

Honestly, it doesn't even feel like really all that much has leaked yet. I say that with grand respect for our insiders.
This. It feels like Minority Report's precrime initiative. "Watch this space." isn't much of a leak! Maybe something more in-depth has leaked, and Disney as well as several insiders know it, but nobody wants to be the first to go public with it for fear of revealing the source.

Short of that, I've read nearly every post in this subforum made in the past several months, and the only thing I really know is that I can and should be excited. But to be honest, that happened all the way back when Disney bought Star Wars. We already knew *something* was happening (already confirmed by Iger) and the park closures hinted at when and how much. Sure, there are leaked budget numbers, but that's an indirect relationship to what's being built. The anticipation is killing me, but I have a hard time believing Bob Iger would be upset that Disney's cheering section has already lined up. And it's not like their competition in Orlando was resting and waiting for this moment either.

I would elaborate but my bothans would prefer I not.

LOL, the whole "Bothans" leaking Star Wars plans has all the cleverness of a deliberate PR leak. Regardless of its origin, kudos for a good show!

And please oh please let this be a subtle hint that the plans you heard of involve a Death Star.

One comment that I can add to this is that it would not surprise me if there was a lot that was not leaked about this project, even at D23. The main reason being is that this is going to be a substantial announcement considering the sheer amount of work that this could involve. WDW has so much going on right now from a construction perspective; there are almost new changes/refurbs/additions/expansions/etc happening constantly.

For example, to keep someone like James Cameron happy, I doubt that they would overshadow the Avatar expansion with a major Star Wars announcement. Even though Avatar is the highest grossing film to date, it still pales in comparison to the impact that Star Wars has had on the cultural zeitgeist in this country, as well as at a global level.

Indeed, it would not surprise me if the Star Wars 'stuff' is the last thing to be announced with everything that has been going on. That will allow them to shine the light on projects like DTD/DS, Shanghai, as well as everything going on at DAK, including the show piece that is going to be Pandora, along with the overall transformation of the park from just a day park to a park that is opened late enough for a new nighttime show and night safaris. That way, Cameron can have his time with Pandora in the spotlight prior to the arrival of the galaxy that won't be so far, far away anymore. It would not shock me if more real details about DHS - and more specifically Star Wars - is held off until 2017. Not that my opinion will make people very happy, but I could certainly see it being handled that way. But who knows? I have never felt that Disney's Marketing and PR Divisions were that great to begin with. I mean, look at how that made that big Pandora push for DAK...from Japan! :banghead:

The death star should never be built. Its so big it deserves to be built in outerspace. They say it would take all the metal on earth to build the death star. Sure it be nice but the exterior of the building would be ugly.

I've always thought that it could be built similar to Epcot's SSE geodesic sphere, but larger. Imagine the star wars dark ride that could be built in there. Endless possibilities...

To do so would take up to much real estate at DHS. The plans currently in the works dont show enough room for such a structure.

The only thing I can think of is a Space Mountain type roller coaster where the ride takes you into space you enter the Death Star and blow it up using projections and you fly away from the debris. 1st room is launch from a cargo bay, 2nd room travel through space and light speed. 3rd room arrive a death star with a large projection on the wall, then enter the projection. 4th room is interior of death star and blow it up, 5 room is exit from death star with debris and explosion behind you, 6th room is unload at cargo bay.

Sorry, I should be in the Imagineering threads.

First post on here that makes 100% sense. TWDC is on a firestorm trying to do way too many things. DHS will be redeveloped but not any time soon. Avatar land has to open before it actually is complete. Lets remember that they announced Avatar in 2011. Look at how long it took for them to begin the first dig or that they finished t

Just a pet theory, but I suspect we will be seeing Spidey's new duds at D23. If they have enough stuff like that, they may think they have enough cover to not announce anything of substance for the parks; Star Wars/Marvel Innoventions notwithstanding.
