DHS Makeover - What we know so far.....

The whole point of Disney's marketing is to get people back year after year...DVC and all.
So I have been to DHS many many times....and I have seen the shows many many times...Some I cant be bothered seeing again...most actually...There are only 5 actual rides in the whole park....that is the least number of rides in any Disney Park anywhere.
Once you have seen Little Mermaid Show 3 times...I think that's enough...
LMA 4 times, Indiana Jones 4 times, Beauty and the Beast a few times...The only one I see every time is MuppetVision.
The rides are the actual things that you can do many times over and over...and that is the thing they do not have enough of...

Disney's California Adventure came under a lot of criticism when it opened because the public said there was not enough to do...
they opened with 9 actual rides and a handful of big shows... Currently DCA has around 17 actual rides and a handful of shows and experiences. Even Disney Studios Paris has more rides and DHS. It is hard to believe that have gotten away with allowing this park to languish while still getting full price for admission.

Great points. DHS has always been a half day park at the most for me and my wife. We just add the hopper feature and make sure we hit the "highlights" and leave for another park.

I agree with you, but you have to remember that at least half, possibly 5 out of those 6 shows, could be on the chopping block very soon. Then, well, we're stuck with 6-7 attractions at DHS until Pixar stuff starts opening in about 2-3 years if we're lucky.

I don't doubt it. But currently, they're still there! So one can't say there's nothing to do at HS currently, thought! :)

As much as I enjoy California Adventure, I really hope DHS doesn't turn into something like that. Even after their overhaul there STILL isn't enough to do to fill half your day. DHS deserves a lot more.

To each their own, I guess. I personally could see these shows over and over again and still love them! They're great shows! I guess that also comes in line with me being a theater/live performance geek. The shows at HS are pretty awesome in my opinion and never seem to die to me.

DHS currently has less than a third of the amount of rides as DCA... DCA has 12 more rides than Disney's Hollywood Studios... If you still consider DCA a half day park, you must consider DHS as a quarter of a day park I guess.

Not even half your day? You clearly are not eating in the park, seeing the Pixar Play Parade, WoC or Aladdin. Must be avoiding more than a few of the 18 rides currently open. Not to mention many additional time wasters like the Red Car Trolley, Buena Vista street entertainment, additional shows, shopping, and plenty of great photo opportunities. Although, you would be forgiven for avoiding Frozen.

Yes, I guess if think of DCA as RSR -> TSMM -> Screamin' -> Soarin' -> TOT with give or take Grizzly River Run perhaps it's not up to snuff.

It's certainly not Disneyland by any means, but I certainly wouldn't feel cheated by spending a full day there.

disney execs: "5 rides, you people should be happy! we're just taking the park back to its '89 roots!"

If they are going to build something based in the new trilogy--a planet, or environment
that we haven't seen before--it only makes sense that they would delay the reveal until
the film opens at the end of December.
The Live Action presentation at D23 is before the Parks and Resorts presentation: elements from Episode VII will already be revealed from the trailer and other info they provide during the Live Action presentation.

I agree. It's one thing if you have an AP or hopper and have already done the other parks - so you can spend a couple of hours here. But I can't imagine buying a ticket to the studios or intending to spend more than 3 hours. On a 10-day trip, we usually spend one morning there (2-3 hours max).

I'm glad the park is finally getting the love it needs, but I'm depressed that it will be 2021 or so before we can enjoy it.

There will be new attractions well before 2021.

The whole park and ideas to fix it have been depressing. I am hoping D23 will release some information that sounds like they give a crap about the Florida property...Something substantial... Something to dream about...something worthy of imagineering.,
but I am afraid it is going to be a restaurant and a gift shop and M&G...ugh

With Disney spending $2.8 billion on Hollywood Studios redo, that would be some restaurant, gift shop and meet and greet. I think there will be more than that.
