DHS Makeover - What we know so far.....

What are the odds that TSL is built first on the right, Star Wars second on the left of the park, and in the back as the third major land they build a clone of Treasure Cove from Shanghai Disneyland? It could be built after the new film comes out, then Pirates of the Caribbean closes at MK and instead is re-themed to the new Moana movie?

Go home. You're drunk.

People are simple, when it comes to names. I say just call it "Movie Kingdom." To fit with those other 2 parks. After they ditched MGM, I started just calling it "The Studios."

So... This might be a weird thought. The 3 "Lands" we know about for the new DHS are Hollywood Blvd, Star Wars, and Toy Story. What do these things potentially have in common? They are all basically regard as the "beginning" of their respective success. Could the "story". connection be related to the beginning? Might be an interesting uniting story, that could easily incorporate Walt

I would still count Sunset Boulevard as separate from Hollywood Boulevard.

It won't matter.
It's going to be post-announcement chaos here for years.
Just imagine all the new users to the site the Star Wars hype will bring in.
Allow me to be the first (obligatory former lurker first time poster introduction).

Serious question to anyone who is good with theme park costs: looking at former, recent projects, can the announced lands reasonably add up to 2.8 billion - after adding in road work and parking garages - or should there be more to come?

That's a weak over-arching theme for the park.

I hope it turns out something like Epcot. With the front of the part representing Hollywood (through Hollywood Blvd, Echo Lake, Sunset Blvd) as the place where your favorite movies were first imagined. Then there is a definitive separation in the back of the park where you get to enter the worlds of your favorite movies such as through the GMR, Toy Story Land, Star Wars Land, and 1-2 additional lands that could be added at a later date.

Until more info comes to light, I don't think anyone can really make accurate estimates as to how much "other" work is going to be involved with infrastructure, etc. It depends on how radically they end up changing the landscape of the park.

That said, I'm pretty sure we haven't seen everything yet.

I honestly don't foresee DHS ever having a cohesive theme ever again.
Much like California Adventure, it's basically become a dumping ground for interesting ideas that don't fit better elsewhere.
It's the bin labeled "misc."
Not that there's anything wrong with that.

I like the idea of the front of the park being Hollywood itself and the back being the "worlds of Hollywood", like Star Wars and Toy Story. I just feel like it needs a bit more to drive it home more. An Indiana Jones area, Monstropolis, Incredibles Land, something from GOTG, etc could work. Having just Hollywood/Toy Story/Star Wars is a bit odd.

Interesting theory and one that could work nicely with great continuity if done right. Marie

We've been discussing that at length, but not since the Star Wars stuff was hard-confirmed with artwork.
Right now, the work to be done would probably include building a new parking garage and/or re-routed S. Studios Drive, demo of the Echo Lake and Animation areas, both Toy Story and Star Wars Lands, and new facilities for wardrobe/costuming and their necessary machines.
...but I'm not a numbers person, so when I say that all that work doesn't feel like it adds up to 2.8B it doesn't mean much.

I really think they need to have a good separation between the new lands and Hollywood part of the park. Right now everything is right on top of each other and there is no neutral buffer zones of just landscaping like there is in MK from the hub or like how IOA is separated by waterways (well before Kong and Potter ruined that).

I would hate to just "stumble" upon Star Wars Land after exiting Hollywood. There needs to be a good transition.

Exactly. One more area the scale of the other 2 would sound closer to right. I think SWL is gonna have a really, really high price tag. Even if infastructure costs around $1B (which sounds high), that still leaves almost $2B for the attractions.
