I still think that they could make it a bit more inspiring than a oddly curved screen.

VERY good observation. :D I really do hope it goes this year. It's set to, anyway. :D
10 years is temporary, after all...

Nah, it's a classic!

I'd hate to burst your bubble, but I wouldn't bet the farm on the hat leaving.

It was hinted toward, however, they re-painted. They tried to give it more life for a reason. Very slim chance.

What about the Aliens?

I've never once seen the Aliens not work, and I've been on very very many times as you can imagine.

It's a bit deceiving though, because the second one doesn't pop out until the very last minute.

Get ready for disappointment Evan, because they can write no book that has everything I know about Studios in it. See both tomes about Expedition Everest for proof.

*And about Footlight Parade, I'd keep it. It's an important landmark in the whole Code era of Hollywood, seeing as how Footlight Parade was very controversial in saying nuts to the code and being quite raunchy.

I know for a fact, that like the wand, it was set to have a 10 year life span.

They painted and added lights to the wand, too. :D ;)

You write it, then. :D

And I agree with you on Footlight. Very historical in that sense.

I saw them working last time I was there, but others have said they don't move like they used too. Their words not mine.

And yes keep Footlight, but fix it!

Nice pics, but it prompts a question...What's more common the Western Scene or the Gangsters? We saw West. :D With fiiiiire. :D

Yup Gangsters are much more common in 20 years of going to MGM I have only gotten the Cowboy twice. I love the cowboy scene and think its much better, because I am a pyro maniac and love explosions. Hmm I think they should add an explosion to ever Disney ride. Peter Pan could have one at the end, SSE could blow up the triangles :lookaroun

Oh, totally. Let's set everything on fire inside a large ventilated sphere. :lookaroun

Ironic... it took 4 trips to TTPFKaTD-MGMS and many rides for me ever to see the Gangster show.
I think it was worth it...I liked it better. MGM needs more Gangsters. :D And 30's/40's.

I don't have many photos online, but here's a few I had from my last trip there many moons ago.

Me getting suited up to be in the water effects show on the backlot tour. To this day this was one my Disney hilights.

Me getting blown up: (I was the captain)

And a scene from LMA:

I also work with a man who used to be the head of chef training or something like that at Disney many years ago. He's got a plaque on his wall signed by Michael Eisner thanking him for all his help at the opening. I'll see if he'll let me take a picture of it and I'll post it in here.

This was a fun thread. I've been going to WDW since I was 3 and in the 90's is when I decided that I wanted to be in entertainment because of MGM Studios and Universal Studios. I loved all the behind the scened looks at real productions . MGM was amazing in the 90's. I'm now grown and I'm a performer at WDW as well as a Film major. I do miss the old park very much. I loved all the photos you all posted. I don't remember much of the Soundstage Restaurant but I did get the opportunity to roam around the old Catwalk Bar when I did a dance party shift at Playhouse Disney. Superstar Television gave me the chance of performing next to my Idol, Lucille Ball. The next year it was closed. When I was a trainer at Studios I would take my trainees backstage before Idol moved in and the spinning floors were still in place. I have yet to be all through the backstage sound stages but my bf worked at Millionaire and has said that backstage was full of MMC stuff. Just to think that I'm standing on the MMC stage when in line for Mania is awesome.

I have always wanted to do that...

Cool stuff, and yes, I too wish that they would bring at least SOME technical and unique aspect back to the park. :(
