The conversation was about conventions, not the parks Sparky.Perhaps if you visited the parks more often.
Nice try.Perhaps if you visited the parks more often.
OK, so I was out of town this weekend and was hoping to come back to read about some cool new stuff. I've been into most of the threads now and I believe I've read about everything, let me summarize:
one new piece of concept art from StarWars land that appears to be the same as the last released one.
One movie of an Animatronic from Avatar land no other details except some experience concept art but nothing really attraction related.
A new adventure will be added to StarTours
New Magic Bands
Same gross pizza
nothing for ToyStory land
Cabanas at the Magic Kingdom
River of Lights is still a no show
Guardian's is not going into TOT
new bus prototypes
Did I miss anything else important? I was hoping for more reading after this weekend.
Chapek's claiming his plans to "bring more Disney" into Epcot will not infringe upon the park's original vision.
Meanwhile I'm just going
Am I wrong for being absolutely terrified for the fate of the France Pavilion?
That's the thing. That's exactly what it needs, but not likely what it would get. From the announcement, I can only expect more franchises to work their way into the park. EPCOT is dangerously lost.Don't know if you should be or not. Why? Other than a refresh of Impressions de France (needs updated video from today, not the 1980s. The hairstyles and clothes, particularly in the wedding scene are dated. Keep the music, please.)

Agreed on the liquor but I'm not so sure about the naked people. Have you been on a Disney bus? Lots of people who I have no desire to see nakedIf I'm going to sit on a bus with a light show, it better also have liquor and naked people.
Professional naked people. I'm not one for amateur hour. Gonna need to sanitize those poles more often...Agreed on the liquor but I'm not so sure about the naked people. Have you been on a Disney bus? Lots of people who I have no desire to see naked
D23 has no soulfulness. I was a founding member, defended it in these forums against its critics. The events were mostly in California, the really good events sold out immediately and over time the face of D23, Steven Clark disappeared and was not replaced and the quarterly gifts stopped. The year that the 4th quarter gift - historically a replica of a Christmas card Walt Disney had sent - was a discount coupon for skin care product, I decided to non-renew.
I read the reviews of D23 events at WDW and they always included an element of disappointment. Myself, I attended a Fanniversery event in Atlanta and had mixed feelings about the experience.
My recommendation, support the Walt Disney Family Museum instead. Unless you want to take a Disney Studios tour - you'll need to be a D23 member to do that. But to feel a connection to the Walt Disney part of the history- the museum in San Francisco is a good choice.
Just an FYI."the definition of insanity is doing something over and over again and expecting a different result" -Albert Einstein.
Haven't we waded through the same basic issues and hopes about Epcot year after year after the fanboi extravaganza convention, and get nothing to show for it?
Well this year's different, we got an extra month and a half of Drunkcot.
And $650 tents at the MK.

For you.
But we already had people admit they forgot that so much of what they considered authentic Disney were other people's properties, some of which were fully fleshed out.
We're already witnessing a generation that doesn't know the difference between what is authentically Pixar and what is authentically Disney. And the same will happen for all the other acquisitions when people grow up going to LucasFilm, Pixar, and Marvel Lands inside Disney parks. That will happen whether you like it or not.
I understand that it's a business. Epcot would make a lot of money off of thrilling attractions. A Fuji coaster in Japan, etc. I would love thrill rides in World Showcase or Future World that are truly unique. If they wanted to build a sleek futuristic coaster in FW for the sake of having a thrill ride: of course I'd back that. I'd back some sort of Ratatouille interactive show in France. Franchises sell merch. I do understand that. It's when a country's representation is entirely replaced with a snowman or a rat, when I start having problems. We are looking at dated 360 films when we have developed insane 360 lenses... But we won't get anything like that because characters sell. I want to be optimistic that they will do it right...You draw them in with the thrill/entertaining attraction - then move them along to an exploration of the people, history and culture of the country. I, personally, think it can work (if done correctly, which I'll grant, is the scariest aspect).
