Really? Really?? Why would you even wait 30 seconds much less PAY to watch the DECADE old Illuminations with the same soundtrack and a slightly reworked show? That thing is so tired it hurts.
I'm sorry, but Illuminations is the night time show in Epcot. You must have it confused with something else.

Man I have to hand it to the D...because they sucker so many people everyday into thinking things are new, original, and worth the high price they're paying. Capitalism at it's best.
Do you really think that most people truely believe if they pay more money that they are seeing something new? If people do not like the high price then they do not have to go. As a matter of fact, if they do not go then I WDC would have to either cut costs or add new attractions to draw people in. So if you don't like it don't go.

Many people will pay to have preferred seating and that is absolutely fine. WDC is a publicly held capitalist company and needs to make it's shareholders happy. They certainly are not a not for profit company. I personally do not mind paying extra on occasion to be able to relax and watch a show in a prefered area. BTW it is tough to get reservations for these preferred priviledges/areas so there must be a few others that also are happy.. I applaud Disney for giving us an option.

^^
Truth

Imagine if all the restaurants and quasi-restaurants (ice cream and bakery) on Main Street USA started roping off areas for viewing Wishes and/or SpectroMagic and charging people to watch from their locations. :brick:

Somehow it is okay at Epcot.

Well, they do have it for the Wishes dessert party.

But yes, I too, have to question why it's OK in EPCOT...It is the "locals" park, after all.

We can also pay for a preferred seating for Fantasmic, fireworks boat cruises for both Illuminations and wishes, desert parties, Candlelight Processional and there are probably more. You can do all kinds of things if you want to pay for it.

And whatever happened to the 'Beaver Tails' snacks in the Canada area?

:)

When they took the stand backstage in early 2007, they put it in the parking of the Canadian merchandise manger's trailer. It sad there and rotted for a month.

Then one day i watched them tear that stand apart and put it in the dumpster.

Sad times...

The old "Trapper Bob's" sign is backstage at the Canadian pavilon, inside one of the access doors to go "into" the mountain.

Funny...

You're right, Philharmagician. People can pay to stand in a smaller area crowded with people who paid to get away from the crowds when in fact they are actually in a crowd. It's kind of amusing that the people who pay for that right think they're getting some sort of privalege that's unique and special because they're 12 feet away with a cookie in the hand.

And you're right, I don't have to go...I don't have to pay either...and I don't. I get in, enjoy the attractions, laugh at the amateurs who think they know something about the park, eat in World Showcase and spend less than $30 and you know what they welcome me back at work the next day.

I think they should fill in a small amount of the lagoon in front on the cantina to move it back from the pyramid a little. This way it is not as much of a log jam. If the filled in the corner there about 20 feet, that would make a huge difference there.

I am sorry I do not get your point. If I am waiting to watch illuminations at R & C I am sitting at my table not crowded like I would be out along the railing somewhere which I would have to locate my viewing spot about 1 hour before the show to have sort of unobstructed view. If I was going to the Candelight Processional and did not want to stand in line for 2 hours to get a seat I would pay for a CP dinner package and show up 15 minutes early not 2 hours and hope I get in. If I wanted to see Fantasmic, I could pay for a dinner package and be guaranteed a seat or I could get in line 1 - 2 hours early depending on the crowds. Apparntly you do not enjoy the night time or special seasonal shows. I do and do not like to waist my time in lines waiting. I prefer to enjoy the rest of the parks.

And you're right, I don't have to go...I don't have to pay either...and I don't. I get in, enjoy the attractions, laugh at the amateurs who think they know something about the park, eat in World Showcase and spend less than $30 and you know what they welcome me back at work the next day.
Thats nice that they welcome you back to work the next day.

I hope they do keep Illuminations viewing in mind while building it. I also second that the Mexico pavillion is nowhere near authentic Mexican food. The chip dipping sauce that they pass off as hot sauce is sooo weak. I am from Texas so we like food spicy, they need to atleast offer that type of food there. I 'm sure everyone doesnt like spicy food but it is the Mexico pavillion!

I have seen the proposed blueprints and even some 3D renderings, I think they are trying to capitalize on Illuminations viewing, there is a lot of seating near the sea wall with many different windows and it looks like a lot of viewing area. The only obstructed view will be behind torch #2.

Most will be indoors but there will be covered outdoor seating also. In fact, the outdoor seating will be further out in the lagoon like an extended pier and there will be a second story for dining also.

The only problem would be the safety proximity to Illuminations.

Will the second story have open views for Illuminations, or just window ones? If the restaurant had an open patio up there it would be nice indeed....
