We have been working on our plans for December. We are not on DDP and will be staying at Poly. We plan to skip AK on this trip and some extra time at MK. We do want to do a little resort exploring at GF and WL to see Christmas decorations, any other resorts we should make sure to see?

Here's what we got so far
12/8 arrive early afternoon
dinner at Ohana

12/9 breakfast at Kona then off to MK

12/10 Whispering Canyon breakfast
??? probably MK ???
DS 5th b-day dinner at Chef Mickey's

12/11 morning still up in the air
MK, dinner at Plaza and MVMCP

12/12 EPCOT
lunch at Rose & Crown

12/13 DHS
no meals planned, we may just do counter service this day

12/14 breakfast at Ohana, depart early afternoon

You are going to love the decorations at the GF, very pretty. The Boardwalk had a great Christmas scene set up in their lobby a few years back when we stayed. Try there.

Your family is there just about the same time my DH and I are there. We are there the 9th to the 16th. And, we are missing each other by one morning for breakfast at Whispering Canyon. We are staying in the VWL. Have a great time:wave:

Grand Floridian is probably the best. But we stay at the BCV and the BC resort has a real nice display. AK has beautiful decorations and used to have a nice gingerbread display, but when we went two years ago they didn't have the gingerbread display, though the tree was very nice. The other resorts are decorated nicely but to me not as spetacular as the above two.

Have fun, we will be at the World the 2nd thru the 9th of December at BCV.

I have been wanting to see the ginderbread house at GF for as long as I can remember. So it going to GF is an absolute must for us. By booking a breakfast at WL will mean that we'll be sure to see their lobby as well. If time permits we'll make the trek over to BW and YC/BC.

On the day you are at MGM with no plans, try hamburgers at the Sci-Fi. They are actually good. Get a milkshake or sundae to go with it.
We have been there many many times and do like the burgers. When were were at WDW recently there were things we missed at DHS that DS really wanted to do. So we think we are going to skip a sit down and just eat quick so we can see more.

You're planning 3 consecutive days at MK - you may find that a bit too much. I'd re-arrange your days or spend some time at AK
I have 2 sons that very much enjoy MK. The things they like at AK are limited. Youngest only liked Safari and oldest Kali. Not sure if December is Kali weather. We are absolutely going to do 1 full day at EPCOT and DHS. Then 2 full days at MK along with MVMCP. We have 1 day that is still up in the air. We are having breakfast at WL and dinner at CMs not sure what we'll do in between, but MK is possible just because of where we will be starting and finishing that day. We know from WL we can get anywhere. My sister isn't arriving until late the night before so we'll probably let her pick what park we go to. Thanks for your suggestion though. FYI On our last trip we spent 1 day at AK, 2 at EPCOT, 1 1/2 at DHS and 3 at MK.

Don't miss Christmas around the world at Epcot. It's very interesting to see the different Santas and hear the stories. You might also want to try to catch the Christmas parade at AK if you haven't seen it already.

can you park hop? i might consider splitting one day between epcot and mk since youre on the monorail. the decorations around world showcase are really nice and you may want to linger. plus each country has a performer with a holiday oriented performance. i haven't seen all of them, but the ones i have seen are really nice. you may also want to stick around for the candlelight processional. it really is amazing! oh and the holiday tag on illuminations is great too.

have an awesome time! christmas time at WDW is just awesome.

We've never been at Christmas. But we were just there and only saw Canada and Mexico stuff in WS. DS loved Test Track and Nemo. So our EPCOT plan will be to get there around opening hit Nemo, then grab TT FP and hit countries for the rest of the day. We really want to experience alot of the Christmas stuff. I'm not sure DSs will sit through CP but we might give it a shot. We also skipped Illuminations because we wanted to beat the "bus rush" but being on the monorail, we will for sure stay for it (got a last minute good spot to grab, we don't want to wait hours?)

Check out these two links to give you a nice overview:

I would suggest that it is probably not worth it to wait in stand-by line for Candlelight, but the week you are going won't be too crowded. You can easily watch it by standing at the back of the theater (on the walkway). It's a little under an hour, so possibly even watch the entrance and first half, then come back for a different time or day and watch (and hear) the second half...or you could be like me and just stay through all of both...

If you enjoy fireworks, the holiday tag on Illuminations is very nice.

When you enter Epcot, there is a separate holiday booklet that sums up all the different activities and there is a time sheet as well that will help you optimize your time. The storytellers are charming, particularly Canada, UK, France and Norway. You can build in a midday excursion out the back of Epcot to visit Beach Club and Boardwalk for their displays. Even do a nice lunch at Big River....oh, never mind, you have Rose and Crown....great for lunch.

Looks like a great plan, and a nice week. I'll just miss you as I'll be passing you on the highway or in the airport going in the opposite direction on the 8th!

Thanks for that info I had no idea they had a booklet, now I'll be sure to get one.

Yes, nice special booklet (like they have for flower and garden, food and wine), either they hand them out or they're on the racks as you enter Epcot. They are also around the park, but not as plentiful as the standard maps. You definitely want to get the time guide as well.
