I was told the goal is for it to be history before the start of FY'12.

I have heard no definitive information that Disney has any intention of even acknowledging the 40th. The projects for the MK are clearly going to last for years, well beyond that milestone, so I until I hear otherwise I assume they'll ignore the 40th.

If they don't, then it would likely start on 10/1/11.

That's an easy one. But there are many small scale things (like that) which could and likely will be done over time.

BTW, forgot to mention on my negative WDW thread that Luxo was always under a tarp and never worked when I was there
.

Two very depressing things.

The 40th should be HUGE. It's been 15 years since we celebrated a anniversary at WDW.

And really? A month old AA is broken already? Sheesh.

Wait a second, so you are saying the MK is getting a huge influx of new attractions, shops, theming, as well as refurbs?? But I thought you hated WDW and had sinister, ulterior motives?? You're such a doom and gloomer. :animwink:

I don't know I'd use the word 'huge' ... substantial, perhaps would be better.

Something that hasn't happened on this scale before ... I guess the 1994-95 Tomorrowland redo would be closest, but nothing got added so this is bigger. And it's bigger than Splash Mountain because as great as it was, it was only one attraction and a gift shop with a relocated/rebuilt train station.

As to my 'labels' they've been placed on me by ignorant spirits who can't argue/debate my points and mindlessly defend Disney (and I'm sure they defend politicians, big business and their religious leaders as mindlessly).

I hate Disney. That's why I just came back from a week and a half there. That's why I've had an AP for 28 years. That's why in the next three months I'll be going to DLP, DL and then back to WDW.

You can love a company and its creative products and still hate the way the company is being run, especially when you own stock in said company!

For instance scaling back Carsland to fund MI at WDW.
Carsland DCA? Now that would just be stupid. Something only P/H would have thought of. Surely.
But put anyone on these boards into a position of having to make the difficult decisions, and I think most here couldn't handle it. Except Martin of course.
Oh I`d give it a go :D
I do know I am looking forward to riding it next month.
WDSP Crush? You`ll love it. Best faced forwards for first ride. See what you think of the lift. Surprised me! And I would remind you about the lack of FP but I doubt that`ll be an issue.

Jungle Cruise next for major refurb!? Any guess on a start date, 74? And what of CoP?

I'm hearing sometime next year for JC (of course things change, see Space Mtn).

No word on CoP (that I can talk about anyway)... and I've just put in my 90 minutes here. Nice day and time to go enjoy it!

I'm sure when I return there will be another 653 posts to wade thru ...

Have a magical day (and I mean that in the good way!):)

Will Studios hurt from Harry Potter? Nope. Not anymore than the other three at least. Does Studios need the ride? Yes, if only to add to the already great selection of shows and attractions, as well as expanding into the most empty part of the park still remaining. Does the lack of this ride coming hurt the park? No. Am I mad it's not coming?

Furious.

I really feel that Studios needs added attractions because when it is crowded at EPCOT and MK, it is Obscenely crowded at studios. When you have to wait 45 mins for TGMR on January 7......You need to increase capacity. I do like the selections currently available, but they need to spread the crowds out a bit more.

If they dont aknowledge the 40th ,,,then that will be the saddest thing. Theres no reason why it cant be on the scale of the 25th. There were no major attractions per say that opened during that either (If I remember correctly) yet it was still so well done and special for the MK especially. And thats really where the focus of the 40th should be. I know some keep saying every park should have a new attraction for it etc, but really it would be great if the MK itself would get the attention for it, since it is the crown jewel park and the one thats been there for 40.

You believe WDW Insider because s/he tells you what you want to hear.

Face it, at this point Insider has no more credibility that Retlaw did.

Exactly. Someone here could easily make a new screename called "DISN3YREP" and post made up rumors about how DHS will soon get an Indiana Jones ride and DAK will get LOTR and JT will start jumping up and down with joy saying the real insiders are wrong and im just here to be a naysayer.

Not even close.

The original cost for F-land was $750,000,000. I've heard that's been pushed down to $500-600 million (and knowing Disney you can likely lop another hundred million or so off that by the time the plans are in place).

I don't know exactly what Monsters would have cost, but my best educated guess was under $100 million by a good degree. The building is empty and prepped and coasters aren't costly.

$750,000,000 for Little Mermaid and a bunch of new meet & Greets is absurdI'm assuming that budget would have included real rides?

DHS is getting ST2. Nobody has tried to or disagreed with or called into question 74's information. MI is delayed until Monsters 2 debuts. A wise decision. Nothing to see here really except wise management decisions.

LMAO you keep saying MI is delayed until Monsters 2 debuts. Which is A) NOT TRUE and B) you just made that up and keep saying it as if its a fact

Here goes the WDW Hater defending da Mouse ...

First, the plans haven't been announced. Everything I've heard and pieced together leads me to believe that F-Land will be getting at least three attractions of some kind (and no, I am not counting meet and greets), as well as new shopping and dining facilities and much better theming all around as well as plussing to existing attractions.

Now ... we all know plans change. But everything says this is going to be significant.

Beyond that, Jungle Cruise is next up for its plussing (delayed for 3-4 years thus far) much like Mansion, Pirates, Small World, HoP have all gotten.

And there are still plans (in flux naturally) to reopen the Adventureland Veranda with a pirates themed buffet experience in time for the next film.

In other words, there's a lot on the table (I know there are a few other things being talked about too) for MK.

From a fanboi's standpoint, I'll gladly sacrifice (not that I, or any of us have a choice) a short coaster shoehorned into an existing facility at my least favorite WDW park for bringing some life to the No. 1 theme park in the world.

This answered my exact question which I was just about to post until I ran across this post. I was going to ask what else besides TLM & M&G's was coming. Good news about JC, maybe they will put the fish in from DL (though DL's hardly works )

Recently there has been posts of Speedway removal, Skyway removal for a TS restaurant, and an Adventureland expansion beyond the train tacks. I'm just curious what you've heard/your opinions on these subjects.

Jay Rasulo still is running the show at WDI through Bruce Vaughn, and the environment is still largely toxic.

How bad is it? Both Tony Baxter and Tom Fitzgerald are agreeing on things!

Seriously.

Is this inspite of Rasulo or because of him?? Are they agreeing just to agree, and are they agreeing with Rasulo or trying to beat him out??? Are they playing the company card game and kissing but to save their jobs or did Rasulo finally get a clue on how to handle things the right way (wishful thinking)??

I figured as much. Was hoping for a rough start date and length in time but I guess I'll find out next year if they're doing it or not.

Here's hoping they can make up their minds on CoP (they've spent money on everything but Act 4 so far so they might as well finish it!). I hope for it along with JC in 2010!

I don't know why you guys get yourself all worked up? None of these posters has proven to be a true insider. Other than Lee and Martin who give very VAGUE information, I haven't seen the Conondrum, WDW1974, WDW Insider or any of them break any news here. First off, anyone who has real inside information, doesn't come to a message board and call themselves WDW Insider. This message board goes through this atleast once a year until that person is outed and banned. WDW Insider just shows up this month and starts posting all this deep, insider knowledge. Just shows up, BAM, HERE I AM! Let me risk my job and tell you secrets!! Not gonna happen and stop letting yourselves be fooled because he spews things you'd like to be true. All of us here know what types of things get people excited, so if someone wanted to they could create a name and go on and on in cryptic message about the re-opening of the Adventurers Club, but I can't talk anymore about that right now!!! You know who the true insiders are, guys like DLPMagic who released blueprints of Fantasyland that reach all over the internet and make it into newspaper columns. Now THATS someone who is a real insider. Everyone knows Conondrum is Enigma who was banned from the boards, so of course he is going to return as a bitter poster knowing how to rile up the boards. And as far as WDW1974, I haven't seen him break any news at all. Someone show me a post of his that has news first broken by him and then it was announced by Disney later on and came true. Your not gonna find it. Even this thread he started basically says the Monsters Inc coaster is no more, but then he adds that anything can change. So basically we're back where we started. True insiders don't preface everything with "Well of course this could change" because they want to cover their butts. If someone is a true insider they have faith in their knowledge. The dude who broke the FL plans came in, told us everything, and even offered added proof which he made good on.

Im puzzled why some of this bothers some of you so much. Is it really that important, after all it does say rumour at the top of the page.

Must be compensating for something.

First, I was the OP just to be clear. Not 'Insider'. And I stand behind the information. I used a question mark because, frankly, I wasn't thinking about punctuation and besides, folks can always claim that something will happen 'in the future' ... by that criteria everything from Discovery Bay to the Western River Expedition to the Iran pavilion for EPCOT 'may' happen in the future.

What's the saying about no guarantees in life?

But right now, the status of this project is DEAD. No lights. No colors of the rainbow. No delay. Just dead.

Disney doesn't make announcements over attractions they aren't building that were never announced to the public.

Of course, some folks here do still think BK is coming to DAK, so what can you do?

Try to set them straight and then ignore them.

My apologies '74 I thought "Insider" was the OP. All that followed would not have been typed if I hadn't made that error. And I know Disney wouldn't announce they weren't planning something they never announced to begin with. But they could still be trying to preserve something for D23 since FL was leaked. Myabe? I dunno I'm just trying to remain optimistic. Tired of hearing interesting ideas shelved. Again, my apologies on the "WDW_____” mix up. I'm man enough to admit when I've made an error. Lol
