D23 Parks and Resort Panel 2019

We got an acquired IP land and we’re getting another acquired IP land. I expected nothing from this D23 and was not disappointed. But, hey, a Poppins ride sounds cool. Too bad it’s going into the wrong park.
Investment is investment and that non IP ship has pretty much sailed. If anyone is expecting anything different they might as well give up visiting.

Yep. From the blog:

Avengers Campus to Open in 2020 at Disney California Adventure Park

“You can soon suit up alongside your favorite Super Heroes at the Avengers Campus, beginning in 2020 at Disney California Adventure park. This campus is set up by the Avengers to recruit the next generation of Super Heroes.”

I think he actually said Spider-Man opens next year. So 2020 is Avengers Campus and parade and ROTR.

Oh, you're right. And the Marvel Land artwork says 2020 too. It will be a busy year next year, although I think Marvel Land won't open until after summer. Kind of a nice homage to A Bug's Land which opened in October, 2002.

I'll go change the timeline in the original post. Thanks!

Here's the updated timeline:

2020 - Rise Of The Resistance, Magic Happens Parade, Spiderman Dark Ride, Avengers Campus
2021 - Nothing. Morning at your leisure, afternoon Instagrammable Moments
2022 - Mickey & Minnie's Runaway Railway, Freshened Toontown
2023 - Avengers E Ticket (might open in late 2022 if construction starts this fall)

2021 will likely have something tied into the 50th I assume, right? They did Disneyland’s at MK.

Avengers came out in 2012? The MCU since 2008...

So after the “pinnacle” movie with main character exits is when they get to this?

Did pressler and the Eisner boys get hired again and we didn’t hear about it? This is reactionary at a laughable pace

We don’t care about hotels here.
I, my family and thousands of other tourists who come from further than I-5 because we love DL just as much as you do, do care about those things. Beyond that I care about hotels bringing in additional capital that could be used to further guest experiences in terms of more attractions, better non-park diversions and more restaurant choices.

I’m more shook at how fast the campus will be up and done...

Yeah, me too. A Bug's Land closed a year ago, Labor Day 2018. And the new land opens two years later, say October, 2020? November, 2020?

I guess it helps that the Bugs theater is being re-used so they didn't have to spend a year on foundation and structure work for the Spidey ride. I guess the other stuff that would open next year is just the Ant Man micro-brewery and a gift shop and new walkways/landscaping. So two years to build that more minor stuff from the ground up is about right.

Still, an impressive turnaround from A Bug's Land to Marvel Land in two years, give or take two or three months.

I just went to Westcoaster.net who always has really good photography, and they had an update a couple days ago. Didn't disappoint, go check it out. https://www.westcoaster.net/home/2019/8/23/disneyland-update-youll-know-who-wrote-it

Things are obviously coming along fast at Marvel Land. Still, I'd bet an October 2020 grand opening at the earliest, a November 2020 is more likely, once the HalloweenTime stuff is done and before Christmas sets in.

I'm glad they are letting Tomorrowland sit for now. With Mr. Chapek choosing land rosters and direction, it's best to let that project simmer for another year or two to see if there's a change coming to senior execs for the Parks.

While today's D23 Expo Parks Panel announcements were underwhelming from coast to coast, with no big new anything really announced except for the Avengers E Ticket at DCA, the end result is still a three year window for Disneyland Resort that is chock-full of big new rides and freshening for existing park spaces. That's four new rides over the next three years.

2020 - Rise Of The Resistance, Magic Happens Parade, Spiderman Dark Ride, Avengers Campus
2021 - Nothing. Morning at your leisure, afternoon Instagrammable Moments
2022 - Mickey & Minnie's Runaway Railway, Freshened Toontown
2023 - Avengers E Ticket (might open in late 2022 if construction starts this fall)

I agree completely. Our family is excited for these new additions to the DLR.
