I blame them for brainstorming ideas on stage and presenting it weirdly, it was ambiguous enough someone could reasonably have a take away of these things are happening but the execs are giving a "wink, wink, nudge, nudge". It was confusing for me and my wife.
I agree. It was done in a very confusing way. Also I see the usual suspects for clickbait Disney news sites posting articles like "Dinoland is being replaced with Zootopia and Moana!" and "Coco, Encanto and Villain lands coming to MK" as if it's a fact and not a blue sky concept.

Oh got it!

I heard people applauding and making weird cheering sounds (especially one loud lady) on my speakers with every sentence the presenters said. It was like a state of the union address.
There was definitely someone with an airhorn-like squeal at every announcement.

So, just want to make sure I’m understanding this correctly.

Nothing new is coming to WDW after TRON and Tiana.

MK:
  • TRON opening in Spring for some dumb reason it better be before Springtime Surprise next year
  • They are “maybe” getting something “Beyond Big Thunder” that could be potentially huge if it actually happens
  • Happily Ever After is coming back
  • Tiana Bayou Adventure late 2024
EPCOT:
  • New Nighttime Show
  • Figment Meet and Greet
  • World Celebration opens in late 2023 for some dumb reason.
Hollywood Studios:
  • Wasn’t even mentioned in the show
  • Fantasmic is coming back this year
Animal Kingdom:
  • Is “maybe” getting a massive expansion…maybe
Those EPCOT “announcements” were the biggest gut punches. I hope those bluesky projects come soon, they could be game changers. The only issue is that MK really doesn’t need more to do. I’m still excited for these if they become real.

HEA song coming back but for a new show, not a return of prior show

Hatbox Ghost coming to HM in MK

The MK expansion is HUGE news if they follow through with a massive expansion there. Doesn’t matter what it’s filled with.

We know Dinoland overhaul is guaranteed to happen, they announced some random ideas on what they can fill it with, but it doesn’t matter, we know it’ll happen.

Then they announced the MK Frontierland connector, which, doesn’t matter what fills it, shows they’re actually considering it. It’s exactly what Magic Kingdom needs. New physical space with a lot of attractions.

All these would be amazing additions but I suspect the only one that will happen in my lifetime is the Dinoland redo… and I’m in my 40s.

6 years for Tron 🤦🏼‍♂️, even if they had a plan and could start the MK land next year it would be more than a decade before it opened. Without a plan it’ll likely take them a decade just to do construction drawings, then another decade to build… 2040 at the absolute earliest with current management.

I agree on the excitement point, but does Colombia really fit into Fantasyland? Seems like a huge clash with the existing storybook European theming.

I think Encanto would clash with Disneyland's Fantasyland, since the inspiration for the buildings is so clearly German. With MK's Fantasyland, it wouldn't bother me. There's such a mix of styles, and New Fantasyland in particular seems more focused on regurgitating buildings from the animated movies than creating an authentic "European village." If they used Mirabel's village as a lead-in to the Casita, I'd buy it...It would hardly be any more farfetched than using Frontierland as a lead-in to Galaxy's Edge.

Why does WDW take so long? 🤨

I wonder if they are shifting away from announcing things only for them (often) to be cancelled or drastically changed ... So instead discuss them as these "blue sky" ideas and only announce them when they actually start building them

Meanwhile, there is still a prominent, vacant attraction building at the front of Tomorrowland, at the front of the Magic Kingdom, that has been in that state for several years now. We have interior demolition permits for said building, so work has actually been done on it. We still have no official word on what is going there and when.

What a great look.

This is kind of my take. I’m thrilled just that the north side of RoL is being truly considered for expansion. The specifics of what goes less is actually less important IMHO than that they would be adding attractions and space to MK which needs it.

I truly think I watched a different show than everyone else. Ya I mean it helps that it’s actually fun watching the musical performances live.

I expected Tomorrowland, but other than up until Friday I wasn’t expecting anything for DCA (which I feel needs it more). So I’m elated avengers is back on and the pacific pier overhaul is a pleasant surprise.

I’m dubious about zootopia… but then their concept art (which is probably slightly closer to reality) looked a little more like AK. AK deserves love next and I was surprised that they were going ‘bigger’ with this than what we were expecting.

The MK connector was incredibly shocking. My interpretation of it was ‘we are going to give MK a Fantasy Springs like expansion, eventually’. No matter how blue sky they did get on stage about it and the three choices of IP really excite me.

I know I’m easily pleased, but this speaks to a lot of animated content coming to the parks and I thought people wanted that sort of thing. All of it perhaps somewhat unique for WDW, save maybe zootopia.

Would either Coco or Encanto fit Fantasyland, though? Honestly, I think a mini-land off Frontierland or perhaps Adventureland would work better thematically.

They are movies and belong in the Studio park. Should have built this instead of whatever the heck toy story garbage land is

Lots of German influence in South America though…. Might be a little too good of a fit.

But they didn't even announce any of that: They said it was all blue sky stuff that could potentially happen sometime down the track. Or not. As we've seen in past years, even when they announce things they don't always happen.

I feel the idea of developing across on the other side of the Rivers of America is something that we've at least been aware has been a topic of conversation at Disney for a while. This just provided an image of one possibility of what it could be. Or not.

I'm already seeing dozens and dozens of other sites misreporting that HEA is coming back, a Villains Land is coming to MK, and Zootopia is replacing Dinoland . . . All without any asterisk indicating what was actually said about these things.

Disney really bungled this presentation today. Even the announcements that are marginally true are being misreported, understandably, and blue sky projects that are nowhere near concrete are being reported as on the way.

They had to know this was gonna happen. Surely they didn't take this cagey approach for no reason?

Wait, HEA is coming back, isn't it?
