D23 Disneyland/DCA Predictions!

Actually, I have it confirmed from inside the entertainment division that the West Hollywood story is true and there has been discipline in some form for sharing on social media. And I believe Magic Happens is the actual name. One CM I know said they think it will be the new "have a magical day" as in "Oh well, Magic Happens!". LOL

Wow. It makes me almost want to go back to Micechat, which I am generally loathe to do, and find that original post everyone was talking about a few months ago. It was hilariously trashy and bad. Maybe I should go cut and paste it before it goes away if they are disciplining folks over it?

Twist my arm, here I go...

I found it! So it's the middle of summer, and we all need to read a trashy beach novel every once in a while. Since I'm in La Jolla now but I can't find my paperback copy of Valley Of The Dolls, this is going to count as my trashy beach novel this summer...

In the spirit of "What's Going To Be Announced at D23 Expo This Year!" I have cut and pasted below that post from Micechat back in April of this year. It reveals that not only is Disneyland getting a new parade, but that TDA's HR department seems to have no control over anyone and the Disneyland Resort is like a cross between Sodom & Gomorrah and Peyton Place. With nightly drink specials and go-go dancers. 🍸

For the older folks like me, I had to Google a few things and check Urban Dictionary. This might help before you read the post;

"The Abbey" = A popular West Hollywood gay bar, known for strong drinks, scantily clad go-go boys, and a glamorous clientele.
"Spilling the tea" = Gossip, share secrets.
"Peeps" = Friends, allies, compatriots. (Not the Easter candy, which is what I was going with originally.)
"Slayed" = Greatly impress or amuse.
"Deets" = Details, supporting information.

Got your Corona on ice and your Hawaiian Tropic applied? Then settle in for this hilarious and trashy read...

Hi you guys!! I work in Entertainment at DLR and learned we're getting a new parade next year!!!! How do I know??? I was the driver for some of my guy friends from work who wanted to go up to WeHo to the Abbey but didn't want to pay for a huge Uber. So we get to the Abbey, the boys start drinking and dancing, I'm dancing cuz I'm too sexy for my Red Bull, and a bit later we see two managers from work there too.

I'll call them Manager 1 and Manager 2.

Manager 1 is friendly with select parade performers - don't tell HR!! - and Manager 2 was a wingman with benefits for the night I guess - LOL!! So Manager 1 buys shots for our group and is hitting on one of the boys. Manager 1 scores us a big booth on the Chapel side of the Abbey, so we're drinking and gabbing outside at the Chapel, both managers are spilling the tea about their bosses and work, and everyone's having a great night.

Manager 1 is trying to impress the boy he wants to hook and tells him he's got nothing to worry about for the roles he's cast for because there's a new parade coming to Disneyland next year. And I'm like - What??? Tell me more!!! Both managers weren't that into focusing on me as the girl, but they spill it once the boys showed interest in the parade and roles it'll have. Plus we're all totally over tired-butt Soundsational - LOL.

I was the only sober one, and I remember almost all the deets---

It's a day parade for Disneyland to replace Soundsational, set to open less than a year from now for 2020. The working title is Magic Happens. The theme is the magic that happens in Disney stories, and the floats all have special effects and magic going on. Float and unit rundown is;

Opening unit using Sorcerer Mickey's hat as the float/parade icon.

King Arthur unit with a Sword in the Stone effect

Multi-part Moana unit with water effects

A huge Coco unit with the village and skeleton performers

Peter Pan unit with Tink and the gang

Frozen unit, with trolls in the woods

Cinderella unit

Tiana unit with Dr. Facillier and voodoo in a spooky swamp

Finale unit about all the good that Disney magic does

Burbank peeps want DLR to announce Magic Happens at D23Expo this August because the Rise of the Resistance ride in Galaxy's Edge is in big trouble and won't be open anytime soon. They'll also announce at D23Expo that Mickey's Runaway Railway is coming to Disneyland and built north of Toontown, but that's no big secret. We are already prepping to move out of our big Entertainment building and the rehearsal halls north of Toontown so it can be torn down for the ride!!

And Marvel Land is a hot mess, there's only one dark ride and some dinky retail/dining to talk about at D23Expo so far because WDI can't figure out how the Avengers roller coaster E Ticket is going to work. Manager 1 said his big bosses are mad that two years ago Chapek cut out the large dinner theater fancy restaurant that Entertainment was going to majorly support and then last year Chapek cut out a bunch of the smaller Entertainment activations for the land itself, reducing the Entertainment role in Galaxy's Edge in a huge way. DLR peeps are mad!!!

Both managers said that the big bosses are worried how the Parks announcements are gonna go over at D23 this year without John Lasseter. John was always put on stage because he had real enthusiasm for Disneyland, and he always slayed the fans. But Bob Chapek doesn't really care about the parks and it shows on stage. They said Chapek asks stupid questions when he goes on site tours in Anaheim cuz he literally knows nothing about Disneyland and theme parks and people laugh about it and compare his stupid comments with each other after he leaves. It's gotten worse with Galaxy's Edge cuz Chapek visits DLR more often and thinks he knows some park lingo now and tries to use it in sentences, but he just makes himself look even dumber.

Manager 2 also said that Michael Colglazier screwed up the relationship with the city peeps so bad that it put lots of big DLR projects on hold, so there's not much else to talk about at D23Expo, especially since Rise of the Resistance won't be open by August. With no John Lasseter at D23Expo this year, Bob Chapek will bore people to death and seem too corporate without big announcements to make.

So they're hoping Chapek can work with a coach and practice his fake enthusiasm for theme parks and this August he can at least announce the Magic Happens parade and Mickey's Runaway Railway to get the crowd stoked at D23Expo, cuz there's not much else he can talk about now for DLR.

But seriously you guys, at least we're getting a new parade next year!!!! Get excited for Magic Happens cuz magic happens!!!!

And then a few days later the poster followed it up with this additional info on the parade...

Things got crazy at work after I posted those parade deets, but in a good way. Everyone in Ent. is talking about it more openly now, and more Leads and another stage manager have said to me that the "rumors" are true and there's a new Magic parade coming to Disneyland next year.

Two of them also said that the magic tricks are going to be a huge part of this parade and each unit, some of them techno special effects and some of them just old fashioned magic tricks on a big scale. Soooo cool!!!

I'm just super psyched that we are finally putting Soundsational into the grave. And I know I'm not the only one!!!!

I can tell you really don’t like change.
GotG MB is funner then ToT, it is

You are missing the biggest point,
I bet most people who go to DCA who ride it may like it, but at the end of the day they don’t look back at it and even most of my family forgot it even existed until (me, the Disney-versal park hub creator) mentioned it.
Yeah the story may not be as I great as I sort of was wrong there (I admit it) but the main thing is that GRR is not a highlight of most people’s day and may forget about it and even though us people on the WDW Magic forums know and like it, most people won’t and it basically is free real Estate for Disney if it ain’t really remembered by most people like Tower of Terror it Radiator Springs Racers. Including they can easily make it a better ride through the amount of space it takes up as there is a lot of distance between things.
They removed Bug’s land because people don’t think of it as a highlight as it was a bad idea as the movie is fine. It was real Estate, free for them. They could have put a Marvel ride in GRR but they didn’t showing some worth to it.
But the thing is that DCA might be getting overhauled even more for another decade to fix the rest as the northern parts are (sort of) fixed. GotG MB is really likable and actually had a small budget and may not be perfect but is lots and lots of fun, it may not beat the theming if ToT but it does well.
Cars land is amazing even though some of the land is just merch stores and should be used as the rides there are ok besides RSR. It brought lots of people to the park and people love the ride.
Pixar Pier is the worst of these inclusions, it may fit in with the Californian theme more but it still is not finished and is fun, I don’t know if it is better then Paradise Pier yet. It fits well and is fun to look at. The Incredicoaster is s good ride with critical praise but I don’t think the same.
I never said GRR was not fun or should be, I have always just been saying that I bet Disney really wants to gut it now as they are getting desperate with Universal trying to become a bigger threat and DCA needing more rides. The whole Grizzly Peak area has been mostly unchanged since 2001 and only has the redwood play area (I think that is in it and I say it is). But Hollywood land has changed with new additions and removals (Super Star Limo, we won’t remember you).
Let me explain:
I was sad when ToT was going, I was sad when the Great Movie ride was going. But I don’t lurk on why it should not go and why, I think of the possibilities they have for it as it could be better or be more fun or enjoyable. Change is a good thing for some cases and I bet they are working on what could replace GRR as it has never remembered by certain people. I see what they can do with it as they can always make something better as changing GRR and maybe adding something new or just returning it could make me satisfied as they need to do something with it. Soon everyone will be going to Marvel land as the Spider Man ride is going to be awesome and the Avengers Coaster that is planned for phase 2.
GRR might become irrelevant and they just would have to do something with it. But things like SM or BTMR are inevitable as they always make people happy as they are amazing, GRR does not speak the same way to people, average people.

There’s nothing wrong with GRR.

The rest of DCA is changing and GRR already feels weird to me as it is just (not to) old but feels weird as DCA has changed so much but soon once Disney realizes that not many people even remember going on it (most average folks) so they will think of it as free real Estate. I do like the ride but it feels outdated as DCA is getting bigger budgets (excluding Pixar Pier). It should at least change with the times.

Where did you come up with the notion that apparently many people amnesia about riding the attraction?

That’s absurd.

Most people do as it is not their highlight. Including the ride has not gotten Disney care and even when my family went on it they didn’t remember it later and we went on it because it was just right there next to the gate and Soar’n. You must realize I bet I can do a poll on this and GRR won’t be picked to much

Again, where did you get the notion that people suddenly forget their experience of GRR?

there’s a difference between a forgettable experience and literally forgetting you did something

Dude? What have you been smoking? Toad isn't under Alice. Alice is over itself. There's no room for any of Toad under Alice. The 1983 Toad ride is roughly the same size as the original was and Alice was built after the original Toad. So far as I know every version of Alice uses the original track layout except for the final scene, which was added in '83 (my friend David Mumford worked on it).
The Tulgey Wood section of the Alice ride crosses over part of Mr. Toad. Kinda cool, really.

GRR has always been one of my family’s favorite DCA rides. I like to complain about its ridiculous lack of bears, but it’s generally regarded by theme park fans as one of the finest rapids rides on Earth. I honestly think most DCA visitors actually do remember it quite fondly. :)

Never said it was a bad rapids ride,
I do like it but it seems like free real Estate for Disney as the rest of DCA is changing and I bet it is in the chopping block an less then a decade. Never said it should go, just providing proof

You haven't provided anything. It's a massive mountain that would cost way too much to destroy.
Never said to destroy it,
They could replace the river rapids with a new one (if wanted) and no need to touch the Grizzly Peak Mountain).
Also Disney has done much more expensive things and they could if they wanted to.

Average park guests don’t go home and rave about how Main Street was their highlight of their trip so Disney should just bulldoze it and replace it with something that fits Disneyland’s new direction of IP themed additions.
That is the Main Street, what leads up to the hub and it is where parades go through and is a shop area which provides Disney money,
Grizzly Peak is a rapids ride that can get outdated as Main Street can be upgraded and it is the lead up, GRR is just there, eating up crowds but not exactly a highlight.

Is Hollywood Land not still slated to be overtaken by Marvel at some point?
That is rumored, I could see that happening but the rumored phase 2 for ML with the Avengers Coasted in possible 2021/2022 would go into the parking lot behind DCA but the coaster could fit into an expansion of the theatre in Hollywood Land. So in shorter words it is possible.
