Rumor D23 2024 WDW Rumors, Predictions & Discussion

As we approach D23, does anyone know how far in advance they typically finalize their presentations? Additionally, are there any chances of leaks emerging regarding what they'll showcase as we draw nearer to the event?

It will be a good presentation if they don't take an hour to recap everything already happening or things that just opened. Give us a 5 minute montage and then jump right into announcements 😂
This is so true. I noticed this for the first time in 2019 when they made Rise of the Resistance a big announcement. Also for some reason, they did not save Mickey and Minnie's Runaway Railway Disneyland announcement for thatExpo, as they announced in the spring of that year.

Insiders have said that they're sometimes pulling announcements just 20 minutes before the presentation.

That's why insiders almost always pass on saying what will be in a D23 presentation.

If anyone wants to know what will be presented at D23.... wait for the presentation.

Do we think it’s too early for any Epcot announcements with it now being “complete” or is there potential for some blue sky reveals?

I think we're expecting a lot because Disney has made quite a few large announcements already this year that would normally be saved for D23. Some may get expanded on but what we've had so far is:
  • Disney Destiny as the 8th cruise ship
  • Disney Adventure World replacing Walt Disney Studios Park
  • A peek at the Tropical Americas model (Tropical Americas will likely get expanded on)
  • It's A Small World with Groot at Tokyo Disneyland
  • Wreck-it Ralph replacing Buzz Lightyear at Tokyo Disneyland
  • Shanghai Disneyland's 3rd expansion (a rollercoaster whose theme may get confirmed at D23)

Wouldn't be a proper D23 if at least 75% of the presentation wasn't just filler! Need a musical number or two, a guest appearance by someone who is losely connected to a project in some obscure way, an opportunity to congratulate themselves on being masters of the universe, and some comedic banter that never quite lands!

Don't forget a character costume reveal and some token gift for the live audience.

Feel like there will be slightly less filler, mostly because of the game segment being in. I skipped it last year and got a bunch of free stuff elsewhere and I felt like I didn't miss anything, especially as next to nothing was announced at that panel.

I do think the fact that projects that would usually be saved as filler for D23 are getting announced in advance is a good sign. I mean think about it, DVC coming to Frontierland, Adventure World renamed and expansions, Cruise stuff, Downtown Disney expansion and more would all usually be saved for filler at D23. So the fact all of those smaller projects are being announced now in advance gives me great comfort that any filler would be at least bigger projects or short updates on such projects.

I thought now would be a good time to resurrect this thread. We are now around 37 days away from D23. What can we realistically expect to be announced at the parks panel? To recap I have seen the following projects be talked about I’ll put my personal chances next to the projects as I list them off.

Magic Kingdom:
  1. Beyond Big Thunder (I'd give this an 80% chance)
  2. Moana Adventureland (I'd give this a 65-70% chance) @EricsBiscuit stated in another thread this doesn't seem likely to be announced.
  3. Nighttime parade at Magic Kingdom (quick aside: personally while parades are cool I don't think they are the end all be all of what we need right now. WE NEED NEW INVESTMENT)
  4. Big Thunder Mountain refurb (I'd give this an 85% chance)
Epcot:
  1. Test Track (I'd give this a 100% chance)
  2. Soarin’ ending change (I’d give this a 55% chance)
Hollywood Studios:
  1. Animation Courtyard re-do (I'd give this a 30% chance)
  2. Rock N Roll retheme (I'd give this a 50% chance)
Animal Kingdom:
  1. Tropical Americas (I'd give this a 100% chance)
  2. Lion King land in Paris with the possibility of the flume being cloned in animal kingdom. (I'd give this a 90% chance of being announced for Paris and a 45% of it being announced for Animal Kingdom)
  3. Zootopia (Tree of Life) (I'd give this a 55% chance)
Disneyland:
  1. Avatar: The Way of Water expansion (I'd give this a 70% chance of being announced)
  2. Avengers E-Ticket (I'd give this a 75% chance)
Not very likely but it's been talked about:
  1. Figment (I want to hold out a little hope on this one so 30% chance)
  2. Spaceship Earth (40% chance)
  3. Something Inside Out (Probably too early)
What does everyone else think? Really hoping this is going to be the blockbuster D23 we all waited four years to see. As evident by my percentages I’m trying to keep my expectations in check. I’m sure they will also throw some curveballs no one expects as well.

I doubt they would announce the Big thunder refurb at d23, that's probably something that would just pop up on the WDW refurb calendar. Also I disagree with you that the nighttime parade isn't needed. WDW needs more live entertainment and nighttime parade will be perfect. (If the parade is good at least)

I should rephrase, it’s not that it isn’t “needed” it for sure is needed but for a big D23 announcement? I expect way more and I think attractions/lands are more in line with what I expect/want.
