I legitimately don't understand what's so bad about losing part or all of RoA, can someone enlighten me? Just the historical aspect of it?
The Rivers of America is an original part of Walt Disneys vision for the Disney Castle parks - it’s not just “historical” it creates a very specific visual and tells a story. It is woven into the very DNA of the original castle parks.

This was a very important part of the park to Walt, at Disneyland the Railroad and Riverboat were personally owned by Walt Disney.

This is the equivalent of paving over Central Park in New York City and saying “what’s the big deal about losing a park?”

All the changes for the worse might explain why it’s such a closed and controlled event. No bad feedback in person or online to save face.
There’s going to be thousands of people in the Honda center watching live and tweeting everything in real time. Not to mention every announcement will be immediately matched with PR and parks blog posts.

Last night was just as “closed and controlled” and we all knew everything that happened as it happened

The beancounters might not be able to attribute a true dollar value to fan goodwill, but they can't be so dense as to not understand the immense dividends that **doing things that people have been asking for/not doing things they explicity don't want** pay off in the future. Disney has been cruising off of those goodwill residuals for years now, so this shouldn't be news to them.

Why why why why do they change great ideas last minute to lesser ones???? Where does the mandate come to bring WORSE ideas in and cast out the good ones??? Why are obvious good choices rejected???
I haven't heard for sure that Cars booted the Coco proposal, but there's a lot of smoke. In any event, it's not necessarily RSR. Cars moves a lot of merch, and the proposal was put together to "more effectively" counter EU's offerings.

The Mesa artwork - if or when it gets released - is gorgeous. Wish we were all seeing it tonight.

Surely Cars and Coco can exist within the same land.
