Fetal Alcohol Syndrome, Triplegic CP, epilepsy, asthma, feeding tube, autism and early onset schizophrenia (at least that is what they think the hallucinations are)

Fetal Alchol Syndrome = Brain damage from her birthmother drinking while pregnant, affects her judgement and impulse control (she has none of either) not sure of all of the other ramifications yet)

Tri-plegic Cerebral Palsy = affect her entire left side and her right leg, along with muscles needed for feeding and potty training (she will most likely never do either) it also makes her tire more easily, she has about 30 minutes of activity in her before she tires out and begins falling (this maybe becuase of a stroke in utero)

Asthma = breathing problems (tho less so here than in CA)

Schizophrenia = ususally kicks in in early adulthood, but both of MJ's birth parents had genetic schizophrenia, so MJ's got a huge chance of it becoming full blown...she has already started having hallucinations (auditory and visual)

Autism = affects her language (she only says single words, with the exception of phrases that always go together, like thank you for example) her vocabulary is very limited, she does some signing, but again, doesn't combine them, also affects her ability to relate socially (she is hyper social), her pain sense is very dulled, she has many repetitive behaviors, echolalia (repeats words over and over), injures herself and others.....

G-Tube = she has a tube that goes directly into her stomach, she takes all medicines, water and food (formula) through it, she eats nothing at all by mouth

Epilepsy = Seizures

Did I miss anything?

Moms are the greatest. They can: bake really yummy cookies, help with homework, kiss any boo-boos, make you laugh when your sad, help you get better when you're sick, and so much more. I have a really great mom, and so does MJ!

It is a lot to deal with, but I get it all back tenfold, I adore her and wouldn't be the same without her.

Bonny, I knew MJ had problems, but I didn't realize the extent till now.
I always believed that only special people get to have children with special needs. This is doubly true in your case, because you adopted MJ.
I admire you more than I can say.
MJ and you are both blessed to have each other.

Awww, thanks so much! MJ is a blessing and a half. What is sad to me is how many families siad no before we said yes and she is just the greatest kid ever. I mean, yeah, she has some severe issues, but man, when she learned to say *shus wu* (love you) a few months ago.....it was so awesome. With kids like MJ, every small gain is huge.
