Despite that, I'd still say you should call the doctor. Risk of health over finances is never a good thing.

unfortunately, they won't treat her if she doesn't have insurance or medicaid and with all of our medical expenses we have zero savings...

I'm with you girl, we're self-employed so it's all self pay unless it's catostrophic... a "swim" party sounds good - if she can manage it - if not the cool compress and maybe a juicecicle - freeze some apple juice - that will help a little with the fluids...

Bonny, how about MJ's regular pediatrician - would he/she actually refuse to treat her?!? If you called, could you at least get some advice over the phone?

thanks Jess...unfortunately, MJ is tube fed, she doesn't eat or drink anything by mouth...she likes the wet towel, but she says no to swimming :(

Not sure, but it would cost me 50 bucks to find out...they are closed now so an after hours call is what it would be... :(

so sorry girly... I would at least call her pediatrician - most have an after hours number that they don't charge for - a nurse can better help direct you, I can say from experience that we've used the hotline many times - and it helps tremendously... My thoughts and prayers are with you and your lil' gal...

All doctors have an on call person, call the regular number and the answering service should pick up. They will pass the message along and a doctor should call you back. As long as she is liking the cool towel keep using it until her fever comes down.

*crosses fingers* ok, tried some more tylenol with a little water push...it *seems* to be staying down this time... I may have to give her meds over a couse of time to avoid filling her tummy too full...Sigh, even a cold isn't simple with her....
