Crystal Palace now offering alcohol

No one needs alcohol, it’s a nice thing to enjoy. Xanax alters your brain, a glass of Merlot does not.

Has no one here ever taken their children to a restaurant that serves alcohol?
What about a school festival?
Amusement park?
Sporting event?
Etc etc etc etc?

Alcohol doesn't alter your brain? You're kidding right?

I get what you are saying. A glass of Wine isn't going to alter an adult and if everyone who steps through the doors of The Crystal Palace is responsible with alcohol then that is great, but sadly not everyone is and this place is a Character Dining experience with tons of children. Heck, I have seen responsible adults at the Food and Wine Festival having a great time and unfortunately I have seen the belligerent drunks as a small child as well who aren't responsible. I don't know if there is a solution to serving alcohol or not in the Parks because what it comes down to is if people can be responsible with it or not.

It is not to "hide" alcohol from the kids. It is the fact that people already behave poorly at MK with the heat and the crowds, that they really do not need the added affect of alcohol to the mix. Most people can probably have a drink or two and be fine, but it is the small percentage that will cause the problems. I drink on occasion and one of those occasions is at the F&WF at Epcot. BUT, this is on my solo trips, never when I am responsible for my kids. There is something fundamentally wrong with seeing a parent pushing a baby stroller through the parks with a beer in their hand. I have seen that many times at Epcot.

Nope, not kidding. A glass of Merlot will not alter someone the same way that Xanax would.

I’ll just agree to disagree. I have a cocktail on vacation, with my child by my side.

Your last sentence is the key, but it’s not just with alcohol.. it’s the people themselves. I’ve seen obnoxious and belligerent at Disney without a drink in their hand.lol... But, the majority are not. Same thing for people who are drinking, the majority are not jerks.

I agree that people under extreme heat, kids whining all day, walking all day, standing in lines can put anyone in a mood. Adding alcohol to the mix just stirs the pot even more in my opinion.

I just have a different opinion. I think people are trashy, or not trashy. I don’t think the heat/lines at MK, or even a glass or two of an alcoholic drink has much to do with it.

It appears to have been doing fine at BoG.. so hopefully it will be the same at CP

You keep referring to one or two glasses of an Alcoholic drink and I agree with you there that 99% of adults are fine with that amount. Heck my parents have a glass of Wine with dinner from time to time. The problem is there are many people who cannot stop at just 1 or 2 beverages. This is where the problems can arise.

I agree, but it’s only served at a couple of restaurants, no? If there was beer carts in MK then I would be concerned. The ability to order a drink/s at dinner? I don’t think anyone is going to camp out there just to drink, they could be drinking at a resort instead, without paying admission into the MK.

I agree a few restaurants, but I don't understand a Character Dining.

Ok, but let’s look at the character dining that does serve alcohol, almost all do outside of MK.

I respect your opinion, and anyone else’s who feels the same.. I just think that we all need to remember that alcohol is already served at many restaurants, with and without characters.

And I understand they way you are thinking. I just think they should keep the alcohol out of the Character Dining restaurants.

Well, now you changed your wording to "the same way" Before you said alcohol doesn't alter your brain. Anyway, we could debate that as well, since they both work on GABA

My original point was that someone who needs alcohol to get through a day at MK maybe should look into medication rather than self-medicating their pain with alcohol

Great, thats your opinion, now go out and buy millions of shades of Disney stock and make it come true.
Just trying to state my opinion like the several other thousands and thousands of people do each day. You can choose to agree with it or disagree with it. Not everyone has the financial means to become a majority stock owner.
A Cast Member dons a plush suit and pantomimes interactions with guests as if they were that figure :)
In the eyes of little kids it is the character.

My DS, 8, still comes up with wonderful explanations on how Mickey Mouse is real.

Ok, I’ll go back to the quote above. They are both saying the same thing.

No one needs alcohol to get thru a day. Some people enjoy an alcoholic drink, the same way someone else may enjoy a mickey bar. Comparing a glass of wine to a prescription sedative is quite a leap.
A huge one.
Not even on the same page.

I'm sorry but comparing an alcoholic drink and a mickey bar is quite the stretch as well.
