CRT: Breakfast vs Supper

Next year, our son will be almost 6 and it will be his third trip, and it will be our daughter's first trip, and she turns 2 this month. My son enjoys characters and I don't think he would have a problem with the Princesses (he seemed to enjoy 1900 Park Fare just fine) and I think a Princess meal may be a good idea for our daughter's first trip.

My wife and I ate there back in 2004, before we had any kids, and at that particular time, if memory serves correctly, there was no character interaction at the meal. Cinderella was downstairs doing a meet and greet and I only recall seeing her once during the meal and she wasn't greeting tables. She was just either coming or going from the meet and greet downstairs. I was just checking to see if supper is now a character experience, and if so, if there is any difference in characters vs breakfast. And is it significantly easier to book than breakfast?

I have done the breakfast and dinner and if we were to book it again I would go with the breakfast. I think it's mainly for the high price of the dinner and it is not all that great. You are paying more tyan you would for a signature dinner and there is no comparison in the food quality. It's okay but not great. The breakfast is a bit pricey but it is all you care to eat.
To be honest I am actually not sure if they have changed the dinner characters, we did it a few years ago and it was the same...meet Cindy downstairs and then the Fairy Godmother and mice sang bibbidi and put on a short show.
The breakfast we did last October, met Cindy downstairs for photo and then Ariel, Snow, Aurora and Belle came to our table.
To me this dining experience is more about where you are, you can't beat eating right in the castle! The kids love it!!

Wow, it's been a while since I've eaten there (and only for breakfast). Those prices, even with the photo and the gifts for the kids, are obscene.

I'm sure they don't offer a price reduction if you don't want the photo package. But I wonder what would happen if, for some reason, your pictures don't come out. I don't mean that the guests don't like the photos, I mean the pics are blurry are otherwise corrupted. Do they give you a discount, or some other freebie to compensate? Not that I'm saying this has happened to anyone, because as we all know, every WDW vacation goes off without a hitch. :lookaroun

CRT is now a character meal!

Character-wise, YES, they recently changed it. Dinner is now identical to breakfast and lunch in terms of characters. Gone are the days when dinner was just Fairy Godmother acting as a mistress of ceremonies.

As the pp noted, dinner now offers the same character interaction as breakfast and lunch. Having done lunch, the food was decent, but certainly not signature good- i.e. it's the location/experience that makes this a signature spot. If I were to do it again, I'd probably do breakfast. While breakfast seems to be the hardest to get meal at CRT, getting in doesn't seem to be as difficult as it once was. Case in point...for our upcoming trip, we arrive on Aug 14th - at this late date (i.e. less than 2 months out) there are numerous breakfast slots that come up - including a pre-park opening 8:25am spot. I think the pre-payment in full requirement and the double booking changes on the website have made CRT MUCH easier to book.

My oldest son was almost 6 on our last trip and was VERY anti-princesses. He did like the "castle dinner" tho. This was the only time I was able to get a picture of him near any princess, but because it was Cinderella's castle and she was there, he didn't complain for photo. I think had I taken him to breakfast he would have been miserable.

Yeah, if you are determined to go to CRT, go to breakfast. The breakfast prices are horrendous, too, but not as bad as supper. Supper prices at CRT are what you would pay for a 4 or 5 star restaurant in New Orleans (where I a from ) and the food comes NOWHERE near the quality you would expect for that price. You are paying for eating inside Cinderella Castle. Go with breakfast.

Dinner is just not worth the price. No one in our party was happy with their food. We thought breakfast was pretty good, though. It is harder to mess up breakfast! The price difference is really the deciding factor for me. For my family, we are not going for the food. We are going so our daughter can eat in the castle and see the princesses without standing in line for two hours. So we will always do breakfast from now on since that is the lowest priced meal.

My family and extended family have done the breakfast twice specifically for the atmosphere. The offerings at breakfast were tasty and since it is set up to be "family style," it's almost possible to get your monies worth. Also included in the price is a picture package with Cinderella, which is done prior to being seated. In December 2010, we also met: Ariel, Jasmine, Snow White, and Aurora.

Word of advice: if you decide to do breakfast, try to get one of the first reservations of the day on a non-extra magic hour day, that way you can have the park to yourself for pictures. I believe we had an 8 am ressie and the park opened at 9 am that day...so, we arrived 30 minutes early and got to take pictures in front of the Walt and Mickey statue with no one else in the background! It was a perfect start to our day! Then as soon as we were done eating, we hit up Fantasyland and did ALL the rides there in under 30 minutes!

Hi there,

We have done breakfast and dinner. And I like the breakfast better. You see more characters. And you still get your pic with Cinderella at the beginning. With dinner, you see Cinderella and then the mice and God Mother and it is more of a sing along show then a character meal. I think she will like breakfast better.
