Crane up behind France Pavilion

There has been a crane up behind France. Anyone know what is going on? I suspect it is something backstage related, but you never know.

Possible, but it seems to be located behind the pavilion. Assuming the bakery expansion is near to its current location, this would not be that.

Angle looks like it puts the crane near the transformers on the ground here:

So it could be some utility work back there, though that crane seems a bit overkill for picking up some transformers.

Could it be for lifting the Food and Wine kiosks that are back there?

That's probably the worst place for a crane to be visible at daylight. Hahahaha forced perspective much?

looks to me like it could be the transformers. I know that when we replaced a couple of large ones like that where I used to work we needed a large crane to do it. Those things are really heavy, and quite large. Crane makes sense to move one out of the way, take a new one off a truck and put in place, then put the old one on a truck for transport out. Don't know, but it does make sense.

The crane is gone now. They put up a pre-formed concrete 2-story bldg. It is for the bakery expansion. It will be used for a kitchen, offices, break area, and more seating area.

Yes, they started to put up the concrete walls the morning of July 1st. The construction is causing some small changes with the France meet-and-greets, but hopefully nothing that really makes a difference.

In fact it is a 3 STORY building. 2nd floor presumably for merchandise storage, 3rd floor for maintenance.

Yes, the bakery will be BEHIND the current pavilion. You know the indoor seating and the kidcot area? There's a new door in the back wall here (currently boarded up). That will be the entrance.

The building went up quickly, in about a week. The thing ought to open around October.

I am sure the prices at the bakery will go up 15-30% when it reopens.
