The bulk of my crafting these days is devoted to cakes, which I'll put in a separate post, but I did go through a few years where I was really into mosaics. This frame is the only piece I still have when I was cutting glass.

The only semi-recent thing I've done that channeled my mosaic interests, was this piece I made for a friend's charity event back in 2015. The event was called The Brazaar and was an annual art auction...all bra art...all proceeds to the American Cancer Society. The piece I made this year was called LiBRArace CandelaBRA.

I was going to do another mosaic piece in 2016 with Disney pins, but my friend/organizer had too much going on to keep things going.

I'm down to just 2-3 cakes per year, but I still enjoy making them and learning new techniques. These are a number of my favorites over the years.

OK...I really thought I'd not have enough to hit the 20 pic limit, but I still have tons. LOL You get the idea. We like cake!
Very talented stuff there.

And...uh, space your pics out into a bunch of posts. Keep your audience wanting more. Lol.

I haven't really worked on anything since Christmas😂😂 it's all virtual school still so no lunch bags, and in my spare time ive been writing a book (crafty but not photogenic) and remodeling my kitchen (photogenic but not crafty) 😂😂I have nothing to share right now😂😂

i did finally pull my cabinets off the wall yesterday, and I found a lot more repair work needed than expected😂😂View attachment 524090
You should post the pictures of the sign you did at Christmas! That was beautiful! We don't mind if you post pictures of things you did a while ago! It doesn't have to be recent.

So, yes...another hobby of mine. Photography. (Hey, the title does say hobbies)
Yes, there is a photography section, and I’ve posted some stuff over there. So, anyone here photographers?

I’ve got a Sony a6000 with a wide assortment of lenses. I also find the phone, with Lightroom Mobile, to be pretty decent as well.
I would love to take some photography classes. I've always loved taking pictures, but never had any training in it. When I was around 9 or 10, I bought a used camera at a garage sale. It was only a dollar or something, and I took pictures of everything. We went to yellowstone and I had some really nice pictures of the falls. But I've always wished I could learn more about taking pictures in different lighting, etc. @fractal takes amazing pictures and he helped me pick out my new camera so I can practice.

What's not to like about cake!? It looks like you mostly work with fondant? But are the mashed potatoes just buttercream?

Some of these appeared in my first round of cake pics, but I really love sculpting in gumpaste. I have this bizarre connection with sketching and sculpting. If I can draw it, I can also usually sculpt it. It's one of the best ways I can test in advance to know if a cake decoration concept is going to work.

I made two shoes. I don't know why, but I remember sitting there marveling at it thinking...Wow! I made a shoe!

He is still one of my all time faves.

I was kind of sad when the kids bit off his head and ate him.

From one of the worst cakes I've ever made, but some really fun sugar sculpting.

I'll share the cake later, but Wookiee the Chew was another fave. I really wanted to save him.

Most beautiful leaf I've ever made...

These were the figures inside the snowglobe. We ate the snowman and the tree, but my friend still has the penguin on display.

I previously shared a pic of the Brazarre cake. The bra on top is 100% edible and probably the hardest edible piece I've ever made. I used a real bra to cut out all of the pieces and let them harden over top of the bra to get their proper forms. The cups and the pieces that look like stitching had to be stamped out before I could start the drying. Assembly had a lot of tears. The whole thing took weeks, but obviously, I managed to keep it together and it remained intact for the 35 mile trip to the art auction.
