Some of these appeared in my first round of cake pics, but I really love sculpting in gumpaste. I have this bizarre connection with sketching and sculpting. If I can draw it, I can also usually sculpt it. It's one of the best ways I can test in advance to know if a cake decoration concept is going to work.
I made two shoes. I don't know why, but I remember sitting there marveling at it thinking...Wow! I made a shoe!
He is still one of my all time faves.
I was kind of sad when the kids bit off his head and ate him.
From one of the worst cakes I've ever made, but some really fun sugar sculpting.
I'll share the cake later, but Wookiee the Chew was another fave. I really wanted to save him.
Most beautiful leaf I've ever made...
These were the figures inside the snowglobe. We ate the snowman and the tree, but my friend still has the penguin on display.
I previously shared a pic of the Brazarre cake. The bra on top is 100% edible and probably the hardest edible piece I've ever made. I used a real bra to cut out all of the pieces and let them harden over top of the bra to get their proper forms. The cups and the pieces that look like stitching had to be stamped out before I could start the drying. Assembly had a lot of tears. The whole thing took weeks, but obviously, I managed to keep it together and it remained intact for the 35 mile trip to the art auction.
Lots more to come
