Sometimes in life stupid humor is what we need to resort to to cope with the awful realities of living with stupid people. (I don't intend that remark towards you, but rather the people who commit these attrocities) Sorry if that offends you. I don't feel the need to repeat how awful this is again and again. That is very apparent to me.

It's common for people who are faced with tragic(or even potentially tragic) or horrible situations to resort to Black Humor to prevent being emotionally drained. Even my dear mother made a humorous quip at my father's viewing, which someone else might have considered inappropriate, and certainly would have been if made by anyone else. But I knew it was to keep her from falling apart.

Ok this happened to us when my husband and I stayed at the Yacht Club a few years ago. We kept hearing this kid crying. My husband goes and checks and says it is a boy next door standing in the doorway. Well he continues to cry so I go out and ask him if he is ok. He says he is alone with his little baby brother (this kid was prob 4 himself) and that his parents are downstairs playing in the game room. Needless to say I call the front desk and they come up to check. The dad showed up right when they got there so there was nothing they could do. They checked out the next morning. I cannot believe some people. Imagine if some weirdo came by and just pushed his way into that room since the kid had the door open.:mad: I was so upset that I could not sleep the rest of the night.

When my husband, daughter (around 15) son (5) and I were at Atlantis, we heard the fire alarm go off while we were getting dressed for the evening, so rushed downstairs. When we got the all clear, and were returning to our room, we passed a group of children (the oldest was younger than my daughter) sitting in the hall. They had locked themselves out exiting the room, and didn't know where their parents were!

I called the front desk and let them know, so they could handle the situation.

I DID allow my daughter to watch her brother (who was sleeping) while we went down to the casino for about an hour (We're not real gamblers) but I made her put one of the keys in her pocket, and had her lock and night bolt the door.

Stupid parents.
Three thoughts for them:
1 - Thats' what kennels are for.
2 - Bathroom. Stick 'em in there. They probably couldn't reach the to get out.
3 - Use the "Do not disturb" sign.

Sometimes it's very distrubing to see who these poor kids end up with. There was just a case in Milwaukee where a brother and sister, the little boy was right around one, were taken from a very good foster family and placed with a biological aunt. The aunt proceeded to beat both children until the two year old girl was so injured she couldn't walk and the baby was dead. The aunt claimed that the baby would look at her in a suggestive manner every time she would change his diaper. The aunt was just sentenced to 50 years in jail and her husband goes on trial in the fall.

I'm uncomfortable with joking about this incident. Some folks are ignorant regarding child rearing or are so narcissistic don't think about anyone else but their supposed needs. God bless those parents who love, care, nurture and protect their children.

My son is VERY mature for his age. He is just uneasy about be completely and solely responsible for his sister. He his babysat her for many years now but being responsible in a strange place with total strangers all around just worries him. He is just cautious and careful

I apologize, I never meant to imply that your children were not responsible. Just the opposite actually. I was surprised that at 18 you had not left your son alone in a hotel room.

MORONS:hammer:.....

I have an 18 year old son and a 10 year old daughter and we have never left either one alone in a room nor have we left them together alone in a room. We were at disney in June and this was the first time i let my son take his sister to the pool without myself or my husband. They were at the pool for about 10 minutes before my hubby and i got there. My son is very protective of his sister and he is very responsible but god forbid something happen to her on his watch he would never forgive himself.

come on people it's called being a RESPONSIBLE PARENT.

I do apologize again. It is none of my business. You are the parent you are doing what you feel is in the best interest of your children. I do not mean to insult you.
