Aerosmith is rock/pop. (in the 90s anyways).

Wait, you don't like country music...but like Aerosmith. Have you heard Honkin' on Bobo? That has a bluesy/country feel to it. (Honkin' is my favorite Aerosmith album btw).

You like rock...do you like Kid Rock? His last two albums are WAY country/rock.

Country music is a vague term these days. Look at Carrie Underwood...she's played on every pop station going...

It's very rare that you find "hardcore" country these days. Dwight Yoakum, Clint Black, and a handful of others...but most of the newer stars are mixing up the country with rock, pop, and even rap (Cowboy Troy).

Most of the people I know that don't like "George Strait" haven't really listened to his music or don't know exactly the songs he sings...they just hear the name and think "Country Music" and since they "don't like country music" they associate that dislike with George Strait. The man is a living legend much like Kenny Rogers, Garth Brooks, Alan Jackson, and Reba McEntire.

You're very right. It's hard to label any music nowadays because every song has a little bit of something else in it. And like I said, I've enjoyed more mainstream country music that has a pop sound...but traditional country music is what I've never cared for. But I can say that about other genres as well

Love Emmylou Harris, Mary Chapin Carpenter, and Linda Ronstadt. Becoming a fan of Carrie Underwood. Hope she can keep up the standard she set with her first CD!

I dunno what it's about...and you can't make me open it again :lookaroun

I don't think the video was that bad. Cheesy? Yep. But they looked like they were having fun. I've listened to some strange stuff that sounds awesome when it's live.

At the Jazz Fest in New Orleans, my favorite band was the New Orleans Klezmer Allstars. Klezmer could be described as Yiddish jazz, which, in itself sounds like fun to me.

I found this little clip on youtube. It's not a great clip, but it'll give you an idea of what it's like.

I did like Honkin on Bobo, but to me it sounded a little more bluesy than country. But I do agree that you can't really classify a lot of music these days. Like, I know quite a bit of country is played on mainstream pop music stations. I knew a lot of people who were into "pop country" but didn't like or even know about the old school stuff.

Country (traditional/newer stuff) is just one of those genres of music that doesn't appeal to me. I live in a town where country music is pretty prodominant....WMZQFest is actually coming in a couple of weeks and it's a HUGE draw for country fans. And it's just never rubbed off on me. I always have respect for talent though....even if it's not what I'd listen to on a regular basis :D

Old song...but kinda funny

She showed up at my house at half past nine
In a low-cut dress with a bottle of wine
She said this will be a night you won't forget

She poured us some drinks to get us into the mood
I reached for the lights, she reached for my tunes
She pulled out that Red Headed Stranger, I stood up and said

Don't touch my Willie
I don't know you that well
Help yourself to some Haggard or some Jones
Hell, or anybody else
I don't know what you heard
I ain't that kind of guy
Yeah so don't touch my Willie,
We'll get a long just fine

She said she never met a man like me in her life
Who wouldn't share his Willie on the very first night
I said it's nothing personal, don't take it so hard

I don't pull out my Willie for just anyone
There's a lot of other records that you can choose from
So let me make myself clear before you go too far

Don't touch my Willie
I don't know you that well
Help yourself to some Haggard or some Jones
Hell, or anybody else
I don't know what you heard
I ain't that kind of guy
Yeah so don't touch my Willie,
We'll get a long just fine

Keep your hands off my Willie,
We'll get along just fine

I like country, but I mostly like the traditional stuff up until the late 80's or so. All the way from Jimmie Rodgers (one of my personal heroes) up until around Alabama or Kenny Rogers or so. I honestly can't think of any current country bands (or artists) that I like. George Strait is pretty good, and Dwight Yoakum is better, and I useta like Allison Krauss and Union Station until they sold out and she ditched the band and started recording generic radio hits.

Ah, I am a traditionalist at heart. Gotta love some Hank Williams and Jr. David Allan Coe, Charlie Daniels Band, Chris Ledoux and the like. I know it's REALLY counrty and borderline Redneck, but hey, I AM A COWBOY! More recently, Jason Aldean, Jake Owen, Montgomery Gentry, Eric Church and so on. For country comedy, Rodney Carrington!

I do love country music. Have you heard the new one, Take You There by Rascal Flats? There is a part of a line in it that says "I wanna walk down Main Street". I think of Disney when I hear it. :)

Of course! Fantastic song. The only problem with Rascal Flatts is their popularity is killing them. They have been so played out, it's not even funny. I loved them when their "Melt" album came out...and then I loved them even more when they released "Feels Like Today" but now every song sounds exactly the same.

(I love their version of "Life is a Highway" from the Cars soundtrack)

Oh, and a previous poster mentioned Chris LeDoux... R.I.P. Good Ride Cowboy!
(I love his duet with Garth called "What You Gonna Do With a Cowboy?")
