I don’t expect the shows will end up packed, just more popular and better attended.
Which is what, maybe a couple hundred extra people per hour? Thats not a lot of gain for millions of dollars in cost. Which means there is a contradiction you can’t on the one hand say it no longer justifies it costs so therefore we have to undertake a project that will not justify its cost.

I’ve not referred to cost as a justification. What I have noted is that the show seems to have lost its appeal to the vast majority of guests, which makes it unsurprising (in my view) that Disney would want to update or even replace it. In another thread, @lentesta shared that CBJ is among the lowest-scoring attractions at the Magic Kingdom, which is valuable information that helps to move us beyond personal hunches and anecdotes. It saddens me that people don’t enjoy what’s currently there, because I think it’s a masterpiece, but I’d rather be realistic about the situation than cling to the hope that Disney is just going to let an unpopular show continue running unchanged.

I like the country bears and appreciate how each land in MK has a theatre style show to give people a break from the heat and sit for a while. At the same time the show is very much stuck in the 70s and I find between the accents and the age of the recordings it can be very difficult to understand what they’re singing about.

Popularity and visitation is tied to cost. Saying something is no longer popular enough means it is too expensive to continue to operate.

I'd like to see a chart of CBJ's popularity through the years. @lentesta, how far back does your data go? Was there a time when CBJ was in the top half of the list and it plummeted?

With the update to the AA’s I would think that we would see seasonal overlays, special performances, etc. similar to the plan to bring back Soarin over Cali for a limited time at Epcot.

So I will take a shot of what could be thought of as offense/stereotypical/not of high morals by some. Not saying it offends me but I could see what others may think. My wife has commented on the songs before about them being "not her favorite". Mainly very offense to women and not very kid friendly from the form of values a few small ways. The major twang of the southern drawl could be a thing to southerners but probably not even a minor thing.

Ernest Song is about him leaving his wife at home and being a promiscuous male "Acting like a Don Juan". "A go go girl caught in my hand" "If you aint going to steal then you better not prowl". Basically it could be conveyed that Ernest goes to strip clubs. LOL

Liver Lips talks about his wife being ugly and heavy. "I only love her cause my heart is true" Demoralizing and promoting looks are everything

Sun Bonnets "All the guys that turn me on turn me down" "Nothing ever seems to work for me" is a little negative

Big Al sings about Blood which my trigger some parents of kids under 5
Many country songs historically have been about negatives in life. Some are tongue in cheek, or comedic in verse. Some are sad, cry poor me, look at how bad my life is songs. Some are based on true events in the performers life. Songs evoke many aspects of life, good and bad.
But I can point out that there are many rock, pop, hip hop, rap and other styles of music that have just the same type of lyrics or worse. Kids have full access to all these songs and their lyrics. They know them by heart, they sing them and they play along with them.
Times have greatly changed with people now being offended by the smallest thing and wanting everything they dont like to be cancelled. Maybe Disney should be more choosy in which songs they use, I agree. But dont think kids are offended by any lyric they hear. Theyve heard it all and worse.

Well said and I agree with your points. It is not the kids that have a problem with lyrics it is the parents and that is what I was speaking to. Unfortunately, this is the only place in all four parks that have those possible troublesome lyrics, correct? Any other attractions or shows? Not sure it's about being "canceled" but more so about being respectful, no? A few songs in this show are not respectful towards women and I think we can agree on that. Hence maybe not the best place to have it in a family theme park.

Which was why I said I agree Disney should be choosy about using songs. Cancelled or taking something away because someone thinks its disrespectful... same thing. We are losing it none the less. There are many things on property you could point to and say thats not being respectful to someone. It all matters now on whose viewpoint is being used and whose voice cries the loudest.
Family parks should be family oriented, but you can go too far and make it so sterilized that no one has any fun.

Blink, blink. Breathe, breathe. Day in, day out.
CBJ has a higher capacity than Tiki Room. It does not get the crowds like it used to, but that is in part due to age, more to do than in early years and the show being shortened.
CBJ gets a lot more people than Tiki Room does, based on all the times I have visited. It's always got a decent sized crowd with the exception of opening hour and last hours.

Not sure where everyone is getting their numbers from... But it's always been at LEAST half full whenever I've visited. Especially mid-afternoons...

Now Tiki, though? Unless it's a super packed day, I only ever ever a dozen or so people in there... I've also never understood the defense for Tiki Room and not CBJ. Of the two, I think CBJ is more entertaining. But I guess that's just an opinion.

Then you’re the one choosing to ignore how single price admission theme parks operate. Attendance is converted into revenue for each attraction. You can’t divorce the two because you want to.
I'm not sure I understand what point you're trying to argue. My views on the matter are determined solely by my desire, as a CBJ fan, to keep the bears around. While I personally wish the show would remain in its current form, I recognise that this isn't a realistic approach for the future and that a more popular show is the best way of ensuring the bears' survival. That's the extent of the point I'm trying to make.

Agreed
I think we are in a world where both should be plussed, and not butchered.

you most certainly want to fill every available space.
For a E ticket coaster with individual seating? Sure. For a bench seating show that runs every 15 minutes? No.

It’s important to have these “get out of the heat” hidden gem shows in a theme park. It’s a part of the reason why Magic Kingdom is so much more successful than other theme parks. If every attraction was filled to the brim and had a long wait, guests would grow tired and impatient, less likely to come back to the park.

I adore CBJ, but I grew up on going to WDW so nostalgia plays a factor…My wife had never been to WDW until she was an adult when I took her after we met…It is the worst attraction at WDW in her opinion…she says it reminds her of Chuck E Cheese…so I get why they are updating it…I am just glad they are not trashing CBJ…and hopefully there will be Easter eggs for us long term fans

Also a great point. This is partly why things like The Horror Make Up Show and Animal Actors are still there since opening day at Universal Studios Florida.
