Could they ever extend Pirates at MK?

If, in the future, the imagineers decide they want to make MK's Pirates as long as Disneylands would there be a way for them to do it?

That's along the lines of what I was thinking as well. Maybe some of the earlier scenes could be reworked, and perhaps the section with the boat and castle, but I'm not sure where else. Or why.....

I agree that it would be great to extend WDW's version of Pirates to match DLR's, as the DLR version is a far more cohesive, complete story. Looking at a satellite image, though, the Pirates show building has no room to expand. The WDW RR is within feet of the building, as are a couple of access roads, some huge backstage building, and the Jungle Cruise show area.

It would probably be cheaper to build an entirely new copy of PotC (on the land south of the current show building perhaps?) than to rework and expand the existing one.

I think it's safe to say this will never happen...

You can do whatever you want, dare I say the only limit is your imagination. Just will it be practical and cost effective? I'd rather see the money spent on other things...

It's probably safe to say most people who go to MK don't even know what they're missing, in terms of comparing the ride to the one in Anaheim. I can't imagine this ever being a priority for Disney.

Even though I think the Disneyland Pirates of the Caribbean is superior to the WDW version, I still think it tells the story well enough to say leave it alone. Just randomly shoehorning in the "missing" scenes would end up doing more harm than good.

Yeah aside from the difficulty, that would be kinda strange. The beginning of the DL version is more like Louisiana Bayou than Carribean and some scens just wouldn't work well.

Doubt it would ever happen. I think the WDW version is utterly fantastic and I have never been to the DL version which is twice as long. I reckon that this is the same with many guests who don't even know that the DL version is better.

Personally I think they should leave it alone. I don't think there's anything wrong with the idea that DL has a better version of a ride than WDW, or vice versa. It leaves some mystique in the parks for people who haven't visited one yet. Like Mr. Toad still being in DL but not WDW and the opposite for Country Bears.............

It would be great, but i don't think it will ever happen. The one in DL is so much better it's actually kinda pathetic. And yes, I know about the whole backstory about why it's shorter, but still the one in DL is just better.

Maybe Martin or Lee know, but when they were planning the refurb of Pirates and the boat was going to travel out of the building, was the ride going to be extended or the existing building remodeled?

According to the satelite picture I looked at, the WDW RR actually looks like it goes through the center of PotC, and the show building that you mention I would imagine is the PotC show building. Somehow they built the PotC show building OVER the WDW RR tracks. I will have to check this out and see if there is a tunnel on the RR somewhere around the PotC show building! If anyone else goes see if you could find this out!

If WDI would have EVER planned such a ridicously expensive and complicated project (and from the view of the management unnecessary because PotC is still a major success as a ride) they would have done it with the major refurb years ago, when they included the movie elements. They didn't do it and now it will never happen.

Why would you want to rework the boat and castle scene? Thats one of the best ones of the whole attractions???? :shrug:

the only change I wouldve made in that scene besides the addition of Barbosa wouldve been to change the boat into the black pearl :lookaroun

Personally, I don't think the WDW version of Pirates is glaringly that different that the additions would make it any more entertaining. If anything, a refurb of that magnitude would take the attraction down so long would just irk the fans of the attraction and the end result really wouldn't be all that worth it.

I like that DLR's is longer and has some extra scenes, but the ommision of these features really don't detract from the WDW version.

I think the OP was simply asking how it could be done, not whether they would try to expand the ride. I would say that most of us would agree that even if DL's version is superior, Adventureland would benefit more from a new attraction than it would an expanded PotC.
