Could they ever extend Pirates at MK?

I think the OP was simply asking how it could be done, not whether they would try to expand the ride. I would say that most of us would agree that even if DL's version is superior, Adventureland would benefit more from a new attraction than it would an expanded PotC.

totally agree with you on this one! :sohappy:

Slightly OT, but Pirates related.

I was watching the POTC ride through from DL Paris the other day, and it looked like it had 3 drops? and slightly more scarier than its stateside counterparts.

Has anyone here rode it and could confirm? The final level looked outstanding with all the skeletons.

I do recall it did have three drops. But being scarier that I don't recall. I do remember really enjoying it though.

Why would you want to rework the boat and castle scene? Thats one of the best ones of the whole attractions????

the only change I wouldve made in that scene besides the addition of Barbosa wouldve been to change the boat into the black pearl :lookaroun

Try reading the entire post again, as I was simply responding to the OP. I never said I wanted them to, or they would. Rather, the avaiable space to extend PoTC could come from that space, unless the ride was taken outside.

I rode it several years ago and there were several drops involved, so three seems about right. What impressed me more about DLP's version was the exterior - I definitely liked the fort theme they have, especially with Captain Hook's pirate ship nearby (not my pic).

Maybe Martin or Lee know, but when they were planning the refurb of Pirates and the boat was going to travel out of the building, was the ride going to be extended or the existing building remodeled?
The ride would have been extended, with new show space added after the current unload station. "Up the waterfall" like at Disneyland.

Well it seems that "even if" they wanted to extend PoTC to match DL, they wouldn't have the room to do it. People would also get really, really upset if this ride went down for such an extensive refurb anyway. I found that DL's version may be, dare I say, too long? But that's probably just me being used to MK's...plus something is wrong with Jack Sparrows face at the end...

Disagree completely. It's hard for me to ever want a good ride to be shorter. But glad you put the "dare I say" in there. :p

Having gone on DL's POTC version all my life, I was shocked when I first road MK's version. Still a classic, but very disapointing.

However, I can see why it wouldn't really matter if you haven't been on DL's version. Plus the waiting line is much more interesting at MK.

I've ridden both and they are completely different to me. To make MK's like DL would be another "copy" that everyone seems to hate. I'll take the longer HM at MK though anyday.

Agreed. If you combined the MK's far superior queue with DLR's far superior ride, you'd have one extraordinarily great attraction.

POTC in Paris pretty much fits that bill. A great queue and a ride that in some ways I prefer to the Disneyland version.

Still, even one additional show scene would go a long way in helping the WDW version. It should have been a "reasonably" cheap upgrade anyway. One show scene, and some theming to the trip back up the waterfall. Loading on the right, unloading on the left and then rejigging the queue to point the exit into the gift shop.

Oh well. Maybe in another 20 years....

Thanks, Lee. Hopefully one day it'll get that refurb, along with Pirates of The Scarribean. Then we really would have an original Pirates ride.

I actually didn't care for Paris' POTC. Yeah, the animatronics run circles around Disneyland's but I didn't care for how it seems to end on a bit of a downnote by moving the skeletons to the end.

I did read the entire thread and I still think your suggestion is crazy just because their is room in that area doesnt mean a classic scene should be replaced!

No need to be so snappy!

ok, ill bite.

whts the difference between ours and dl, for those of us who never been to dl.

videos would be great

DL (and I may be off just a bit because I've only gone on it 3 times during a trip last month) has a couple extra scenes in the beginning and one at the end (which is only one that makes it better IMHO)...the scene in the swamp at the beginning is awesome but the treasure room and "open" ocean/cave scene are just meh to me...the final scene with the bridge about to collapse is great though...

The scene move ends the story fully for the first time; this is what became of the Pirates and the old lore of crime dosn`t pay.
