Costume help please for MNSSHP?

Hi everyone. I am thrilled to say that we officially purchased our MNSSHP tickets for October 22nd. Now we need to think of good costumes for a family of 4: Husband, wife, 9 year old boy and 7 year old girl. We'd like to do something coordinated with a theme, and we'd rather not purchase costumes but do something homemade instead - perhaps with a few well placed accessories and appropriately colored clothing. Do you guys have any suggestions? Btw, we're open to non-Disney themed costume ideas as well. Thanks in advance!

Yes, Incredibles

I have a girlfriend who's family dressed up as the Incredibles one year. Decorated red t-shirts with Incredibles symbol and then they painted black masks on their faces. Very cute. When we went last October, Pirates was a common theme.

The Flintstones or the Gang from Scooby-Doo, Mousketeers, I once saw a pic of "stick people" they wore all black and attached glow sticks on their clothing in stick people form. Have fun:wave: We're still trying to decide on our costumes as well:brick:

What about....

Musketeers! but you could be "Mouse-kateers" - you know..personalize it with some Disney Flair...could be do-able don't you think???:sohappy:

We have gone with the pirate theme for the last few years and it has worked pretty well. You have quite a bit of flexibility (you can go easy or full tilt bozo), it works for both boys and girls, and it is super easy to find patterns, pieces parts, etc.

How about the hitchhiking ghosts.

Hey JillC. If you do this, get ready for a lot of attention. As you can see from the picture, we did it two years ago and it was a blast. We made home-made costumes and they did draw a lot of attention. As a matter of fact, some Upper Management CM came over to us and talked with us for a while. There were so many people asking us to take pictures with them, it took us 45 minutes to get down mainstreet. The CM then informed us that we could not take pictures with other guest but they could take pictures of us alone. The CM were extremely nice and told us that our costumes were great and to have fun. Anyway, definately dress up, it was a blast!!! I have so many stories from that night, it would take me a while to tell them all.

PHENOMENAL pictures/costumes! Your group would have been my 'WDW celebrity' sighting for the day, for sure. :D :sohappy:

Thank you so much. It was a lot of fun. I just wish they would have let us take pictures with other guest at the park.

Oh, i fogot about this picture. It was taken at about 12 midnight when there was no one in line at SpM. The picture would have been perfect but Mark had to grab his hat at the last minute or it would have blew off. :ROFLOL:

Thank you, thank you!

You guys are amazing. I love these ideas! And Buzz Lightyear, your costumes were beyond spectacular!

I'm definitely going to have a family meeting this weekend to discuss these ideas. Incredibles, Flintstones, pirates and Haunted Mansion guests all seem like definite possibilities. I also like the idea of Snow White, Prince Charming and 2 Dwarfs, but I'm not sure the kids would go for it (although there are certain times they could both pass for Grumpy! LOL).

Thank you so much.

ClemsonTigger

Naturally Grumpy
You do have tons of choices...

Hook, Peter, Wendy and Tink

Pooh, Tigger, Christopher Robin and Piglet (although that reminds me of a MNSSHP with adults in full furry purchased costumes, and Dad as Pooh was sweating bullets before even entering the park)

Narnia characters

Two prince and princess pairs

Mary Poppins, Bert and the two children

Buzz, Woody, Bo Peep and Green Army Man

My overlying suggestion for your comfort and the kids is do comfortable, relatively light costumes that allow for movement. You will all be very happy at the end of the night.

Whatever you decide, you will have an amazing time. When we plan an October trip, the highlight is always the MNSSHP. This October will be our 5th party and it never gets old.

You will have to let us know what you decide, and when the parties start, we will need to get a thread going with pictures of everyone in their costumes and their favorite pics of the party!!!
