So we were duped.
No not all all…
But they don’t do promos where it’s “we have 100 rooms empty…let’s do 100 promos”
It’s more like 10…

And then they can magically reappear…or they can try a different angle

Right now…for the summer…they are trying both heavy rack discounts AND the dining gag. And probably a good bit of annual passholder or visa discounts inbound closer.
No. You made a rational decision based on price point and your own cost-benefit analysis
Agreed.

Is this where I point out that the cost of building supplies is about to skyrocket and that might have some impact on Disney's "plans" for Florida?

Building supplies and the labor for construction, especially in Florida, are about to go through the roof.

It’s a handy excuse if your stock lags and you won’t spend $60/$18 billion…or anywhere close to it…

I rarely have agreed with a post this much

…the problem is he was lauded really in the Disney echo chamber…with most of the financials chugging the same as they had mostly since the 90s.

Then cable started to really collapse and he’s no money darling since. Biggest mistake was riding network and espn into the dust…it’s the root source of the financial pressure they can’t get past now

But the funny thing about “legacies” is no one gets to define it themselves. Which is why time wins that battle and this Twitski is still hanging around in vain fighting gravity.

And presiding over tanking Star Wars and marvel currently doesn’t look great either to “watchers”
Eisner surrounded himself with talented people who, for the most part, were able to build and transform Disney.

Iger, bought expensive things, appointed incompetent people to run these things, who themselves hired incompetent people operate these things, and basically systematically rid the company of meaningful talent over the course of under two decades.

Counterpoint: That Figment popcorn bucket was pretty sweet.

Meanwhile the WDW cash machine will continue to be whipped and abused.

…I think it’s already at a half way house and it’s just getting started.

Here’s a new excuse fresh off the printer: now the powerbrokers are expected to implement a “nationwide hiring freeze”

Gotta get those U/E rates back up…

To translate: that would bring on “significant delays” in the $18,000,000,000 of new rides Joshie Poo promised last year…also known as “quiet cancellations”

"Excuse??" Do you seriously think that there isn't going to be 1) an increase in material costs and 2) an impact to labor, particularly in construction in the south, such that almost any major construction project planned in US isn't going to have be re-examined given the changing market condition

Of course I do…

But are you under the impression that TWDC doesn’t have deep pockets AND access to easy credit?
They can build whatever they want…

But of course when you’re lagging in performance…as was just brought up here…and you’re entering into a period (we hope not…by likely) of economic self sabotage…

It does make a rather easy excuse…without even breaking a sweat

Wait, the company should just ignore the impact of major market forces changes, and potential significant increases in costs?

The company, any company, when planning a large CapEx type project sets out a budget. You are now going to have market forces that are going to impact construction costs. No reasonable business just goes, eh, who cares we can borrow more, or just increase the budget.

Maybe its just the way you are using the phrase, but considering pertinent market changes and the effects they can have on budgets in my mind isn't an excuse.
