I don't know how to answer this. I also don't know how to care about it. "When it's time, you'll know." Maybe when there isn't a variant taking root that is likely to increase cases and deaths and possibly create a friendly environment for the next variant?

Two things rid all of you of your worries:

Mandatory vaccinations.
Mandatory proof of vaccination.

The problem is if you see as a huge spike in cases amongst the non vaccinated - there is no way local states will just do nothing. You can't let human suffering go on, even if people have chosen to take that path. For example, if you have a huge outbreak like they had in New York, there is no way they will just let it happen. They will bring in restrictions, and the path to normality get's further away again.

In the short term, waiting a few weeks to see how much this Delta Variant takes hold would have been more apt before looseing every single restriction.

FL dropped all state level covid restrictions in September. Their 7 day daily average peaked at 15,000+ cases 4 months later in Jan. No restrictions were added back. Do you think the delta variant will somehow result in more than 15,000 cases a day in FL? Even if it did (not at all likely) do you really think the Gov is adding any restrictions back?

The places which would be more inclined to add back restrictions are also the places with the highest vaccine rates so they are the least likey to have a major outbreak. The places with the lowest vaccine rates where an outbreak is more likely have had the least Covid restrictions from day 1. So I disagree with the bold sentence above. That’s exactly what is likely to happen.

I disagree. Forcing any medical procedures on people is not good.

Sure. People wear masks for all sorts of reasons. Mowing the grass due to allergies, fumes from painting, nail salon techs etc. But people are wearing masks to help stop the spread of covid. Nobody mentioned other benefits. All that was mentioned was covid.

He is not saying, don't treat them, he saying make them pay more. I think health insurance is the only type of insurance where rates are not based on risk.

Oh sure because health insurance is so affordable as it is. Where would people come up with tens of thousands of additional dollars for treatment? They wouldn't. Taxpayers would pay. It would be great if everybody would get vaccinated. Truly. But making people pay money they don't have isn't the answer.

The restrictions were from private property owners listening to their insurers. The government mandates were proscribed by Dr Ron

Then what is significant about the lack of approval? Because that’s the big difference between authorization and approval.

You know we can't do that because of the slippery slope. Should we not treat those with diabetes because they are obese? Deny a long time smoker care for their COPD /oxygen because they chose to smoke?

Smokers often pay higher premiums, however. And some insurance companies will offer discounts if you stay up to date with your recommended health screenings.

Anyone who has read any of my posts will know how cautious I am and how I don’t want any mitigations lifted but I just want to say don’t panic yet!
We live in the North West of England where the Delta variant has the strongest hold. My husband is immunosuppressed and at great risk of catching Covid or indeed any other infection. Despite that we do seem to be getting to grips with the Delta variant to my satisfaction! There are pop up vaccine clinics in the areas with the highest infection rates which have queues stretching around the block. Over 18 years old have only just become eligible for the vaccinations who are coming forward in increasing numbers. Home testing kits are available free of charge to every man, woman and child over the age of 11 from doctors, chemists, libraries, shops or by postal delivery at an allowance of 7 each per day! They recommend testing every 2-3 days or if you develop symptoms. People who are in charge of vaccine distribution are, where necessary knocking on doors and talking to people, in their first language whenever possible, and assuaging their fears.
Our infection rates are indeed increasing as the variant spreads through the country but deaths are still relatively low. 1 death is too many but today there were 27 throughout the U.K. with a total of 93 in the week. This is the highest for several months. I have looked but cannot find information on how many deaths were amongst the vaccinated/unvaccinated.
So yes things are getting worse but are nowhere near as bad as they were or could be and we in the U.K. are working very hard to make sure that remains the case.
So my advice to the USA with no medical or political experience or bias is to continue to persuade people to become vaccinated. Send out teams with vaccinations to areas where take up is not high enough and encourage or support people through their fears. If they are still unwilling show them videos from inside COVID wards.
If you don’t feel safe, wear masks and avoid crowded places which is what my husband and I are doing. Meet friends outside or in we’ll ventilated areas, you don’t have to stop meeting them - just do it smartly! If you are confident that everything is fine, return to your previous way of life enjoy your holiday at WDW etc. If you are not vaccinated WEAR the mask as instructed, it is annoying but rules is rules!
Keep a close watch on the spread and severity of the Delta variant but vaccination, honesty and a dose of common sense with a dash of compassion and understanding should get you through safely.

Then what is significant about the lack of approval? Because that’s the big difference between authorization and approval.

I really wish there was a serious effort made to explain this to the public. The only difference between EUA and full approval is additional time spent to see if the vaccines remain effective. The paperwork filed by Pfizer and now Moderna relies on the exact same safety data used to get EUA.

Regardless of any of that, the practice on the ground was still nearly universal masking indoors in the places where people actually live. It still is in many places.

This morning I took my dog to the vet (inside the big pet store.) Masks required. Couldn't go into the room with her because of COVID procedures. Stopped at Whole Foods while waiting - mask required. None of these were surprises. It's how it is.

These things make DeSantis look good and take credit even though he tried to wreck it.

Most people in Publix in my neighborhood are masked even though Publix doesn't even require it anymore. (And no one has lost any freedom LOL.)

What about NJ and NY is they won't have future outbreaks too so no masks for NJ and NY anymore so I don't wear masks anymore for rest for my life?
