Your husband is a very lucky guy so good for him. Iger has been talking and envisioning a more leaner and more efficient company for the last two years. Apparently his words were not taken too seriously. My husband got the word today he should be keeping his job. He’s relieved and at the same time devastated for some of his coworkers. I tend to be selfish when it comes to my family (aka I was more worried about our situation than everyone else’s) but right now? I am just sickened by all the lay offs that happened today. Everyone has a story. Everyone has their own personal need for their job. Am I 100% sure this could have been prevented? No. I’m not a psychic. Do I *think* with better leadership that we could have swiftly shut down across the board (instead of letting the states decide individually) and opened uniformly and slowly... and avoided these massive losses of jobs? Yeah I do. The problem is the extended nature of these closures and lack of normalcy. If we had acted swiftly and timely ... from when our leaders knew of this and down played it.... I don’t think we’d be in this bad of a situation.
Do you mean he intended to and wanted to down size prior to this? And that’s why so many lay offs (in other words he wanted to stop hiring or run it differently so if something like a pandemic happened they’d be in a better position?)Your husband is a very lucky guy so good for him. UV-C is electromagnetic radiation that literally destroys viruses. It also destroys cells and can burn your skin rather quickly.
CDC say that only 6% of total deaths were from only covid. The rest dies from other causes but also tested positive for the virus. I'm not going to live in fear of this thing. It's your choice. I know of several who contracted the virus and got over it. This is probably one of our countries most irrational responses to a virus we have ever seen. If your afraid stay in your house. I choose to live my life however long it may be. By the way, I am an infectious disease researcher.Fear
I read that word in a few posts this morning. When does a person doing what they perceive as right become a fear?
is it of death there is no fear? Would you stand in the middle of a highway in rush hour traffic because some statistics show you only have a 5% chance of being hit?
I have a friend of a friend, never met them...but that person did have Covid in April. Recovered. Said it was horrible
a month ago, that person became short of breath again...walking from room to room was a chore. Went to See a Dr thinking covid came back...they discovered heart issues covid related that left a 20% functioning heart. And if I heard correctly, now on a list for transplant, and before covid, was a very very health oriented person
now you don’t know this person, neither do I...but Dr said it was attributed to covid
why would anyone want to put their family at risk for this? Your wife? Husband? Children? Parents?
it’s not fear. Stop using that word.
In WW2, Germans bombed London....all
Lights were kept off.....OH, except for that one guy who said “stop living in fear...turn your lights on”. Haha
as far as Florida’s decision to open...I think it’s too soon. Maybe a bit Election Day related, but I won’t go there
For the billionth time...those "other conditions" didn't kill those people. People live with the pre-existing conditions for DECADES. COVID killed those people.CDC say that only 6% of total deaths were from only covid. The rest dies from other causes but also tested positive for the virus. And we're dealing again with this attempt to trivialize COVID deaths by discounting the deaths with comorbidities.CDC say that only 6% of total deaths were from only covid. Stay home! And we're dealing again with this attempt to trivialize COVID deaths by discounting the deaths with comorbidities.
Let's say there is this couple: one has diabetes, the other doesn't.
They catch COVID. They both die.
To say that only the one who didn't have diabetes was *truly* a COVID death, but the one who had diabetes didn't *really* die of COVID is the height of stupidity.
And yet, that's what those who discount comorbidity deaths are saying.
In all the annals of medical history when we report the deaths from plague and small pox and ebola and other deadly diseases, we have never teased out from those figures those who had comorbidities... because that would be stupid.
It is only now, in this politicized era where there is a group of people desperately trying to downplay the death of over two hundred and twenty thousand Americans (and over a million people worldwide) is anyone at anytime making a distinction between "real COVID deaths" and... I don't know what they would call it... a million extra *coincidental* deaths?
That is never how public health officials and policy ever did it. For good reason.
This is just another form of science denial. We've already dealt with the six-percenter conspiracy nuts in this thread twice already. It looks really bad on someone who claims to be an infectious disease researcher. Sue your university for failing to teach you proper epidemiology.
He was talking about his vision in interviews and Wall Street conference calls. The execs used covid, CA governor reluctant to open DLR as reasons but all will have different viewpoints on this.Do you mean he intended to and wanted to down size prior to this? And that’s why so many lay offs (in other words he wanted to stop hiring or run it differently so if something like a pandemic happened they’d be in a better position?)
Such erudition!Stay home!
If the script is not provided the teleprompter is blankSuch erudition!
Do you realize that a huge percentage of people that get surgery are given that steroid? Do you see people recovering from surgery in a state of euphoria normally?its the steroids he is feeling..covid will hug your lungs and heart and not let go..
sad really

Although I generally agree with your statement, we always research comorbidities with any disease. This gives us valuable information on who is most vulnerable and it informs both treatment guidelines and public health measures. And we're dealing again with this attempt to trivialize COVID deaths by discounting the deaths with comorbidities.
