Again, you missed my point. 99.5-99.8 is Her resting temp - what her body is when it as at rest. It can easily be 100.4 just from running around or being a little dehydrated - i know because i have had to deal with her school multiple times on this issue because of their 100.4 threshold. An elevated resting temp means the threshold of calling something a fever for her isn’t 100.4, as i detailed last night.

Anyway, my overall point is that there are medical conditions that result in poor temperature regulation - meaning someone, like my daughter, can have what other would consider a fever - 100.4 - and yet not be sick or infectious at all (again, as determined by medical professionals). So how
Does disney handle that, given their own statements on their website of not requiring proof of medical conditions due to legal restrictions of doing so? How would a child like mine, whose fever threshold is higher, get past these temperatute scans without requiring medical documentation, and if the answer is they can’t, then how does disney suddenly go from saying there are legal restrictions on them asking for proof of medical conditions to then requiring it?

the exact same way it’s being handled throughout South Korea, China,Singapore, etc.

Guess what... a handful of “healthy” people will sometimes be kept out. And some suck people will be let in. No system is perfect.
The sole question is whether the measures reduce the R0.

We aren’t south korea, china or signapore. We have laws they don’t. Disney cannot refuse someone entry due to disability in this country (which, in DD’s case, the temperature issue is, as she is disabled due to her genetic condition, and her genetic condition is the cause of the temperature difference). So I was asking someone who stated they were a lawyer how Disney works around the legal restrictions of requiring medical documentation.

If your belief is attendance will be down as much as 50%, and your idea of training employees for cleaning, this will only impact the selected crews that are actually going to be called back to work.

not true you will need at least double for cleaning.

We stayed on site in March and they were already doing a good job cleaning this we well before they knew how how this virus spreads so you will double even triple the people needed for cleaning.

That's another 35% decrease in predicted hospitalizations days after they just reduced the number by 46% in their model. Obviously, some good news from the real data that replaced some of the conservative initial projections.
I think the projections will continue to drop. I said from the beginning that the numbers that were being thrown out didn’t match what was actually happening on the ground.

Not true. The Disney bean counters will have the final word.

I have two kids who run hot ( 99.9-100) especially mid afternoon . We have always been told by our health providers unless it spikes over 101 don't worry. I would assume on hot July afternoon in FL both of them would be denied entrance to Disney. I am not comfortable with the some part time hourly Disney employee making health decisions for me or my family.

Exactly.

I think posters have covered the fever debate adequately - so please let it go. Perhaps someone who has a child with a higher than average normal temp might want to think twice about going to WDW anytime in the next year or two. Because it may make the experience a bit more difficult for them! Yes, people do understand that this is the poster's child's normal - but it is not normal for the majority of people. It may cause difficulty where admission may be denied based on what is the standard temp for a fever. So, if I knew my child might be denied admission because of it I would wait to make a trip. Or know that they might be turned away, or require further testing. That's just the way it will be for a while.

Quite frankly, I myself would think twice about going anytime soon even though I am someone who runs a lower than "normal" temp..

Many pages back a poster who has a relative who works as a CM said the ride maintenance staff are not considered essential so they are furloughed with everyone else. The only thing left is security and a Skelton crew keeping the areas safe. I would assume some basic landscaping workers and someone checking on the plumbing and electricity to make sure no fires or floods.
Thank you, I didn't want to read currently 800 pages lol. That sounds like a mistake, I knew they drained a lot of the water, but you would think they would want the omnimovers running at least daily just to keep everything moving. I hope if this lasts 3 months or so, when they don't try to refire things up that they don't have issues. Letting things sit, is never good.

Except Disney knows exactly who was in the Park that night and where they live, and their ages, demographics.
See above.
Again WHAT does that data do? Show random people have been in Florida? So what? Unless it’s tied directly to EVERY persons health record and then goes into Big Brothers data base AND someone is tracking down all those people (while NOT violating HIPAA laws) the data is useless.
I guess it goes back to the anecdotal evidence that CMs were not infected at the rate that people would expect. Perhaps that provides some clues about how the virus spreads?
Before I dropped Facebook there were tons of parents in the DCP parents group stating their kid was super sick, flu swab negative etc, wonder if there is a way to see if urgent care numbers went up? Or flu testing went up? Hospitals DO plan for surge capacity if the flu- every year some hot spots DO have to triage and lockdown for flu. National news just doesn’t report it with click bait headlines. I expect CV19 will eventually become the same.
Quick service meals only to start, all tables spaced out at each dining establishment.
After offering free dining to get people to book? Lol ok
Followed by the parks (I still believe parks will open to resorts guests staying on property only for the 1st 7-21 days)
Open the parks to pass holders require them to book fast passes to limit the numbers and lines.
yeah not gonna happen- open to all or none. And what the heck do fast passes have to do with anything? Are they going to be kicked out after their three are up?
The ones who will need to be trained will be the passholders we expect to just go when we want and the new norm is we may not be able to at the start.
yeah I can just see all the great PR from the huge number of vloggers going along with this. Especially if Universal and Seaworld don’t follow this either. It doesn’t matter if different entities/operating procedures or anything. It’s the perception. And frankly Universal is in a much much much easier place to control access to on property guests only if it comes to that.

Disney is already collecting the information. The data sets already exist because your Magic Band, MDE bookings, fingerprints at park scanners are placing you at specific locations minute by minute within the Parks. It is a unique personalized location data set that is not replicated at sports or music events. That is the value of the data set.
I hear what you are saying. The information could be more detailed than what would exist for other venues. I’m sure if the data could be kept anonymous and it was legal to share Disney would consider it. I’m not sure if they have even been asked. We may put more stock in WDW then a lot of the general public.

What I do think will be key going forward when this wave is over is an immediate and thorough tracing of any new cases that occur which would include anyone who gets sick and visited WDW. In that case they may ask for a list of anyone an infected visitor may have come in contact with while at WDW so the CDC can reach out to them and get them tested. In that case I believe Disney would comply with the request. Once we come out of this lock down the only way to avoid wave 2 is to take the S Korea approach and test early and often included detailed contact tracing to ensure the outbreak is stopped before we get back to the community spread we have today where it’s impossible to know who is infected and how they got it.

I'll just say until my employer removes the "travel to any declared Hotspot in the last 14 days" "air travel" ect. working provisions, I won't be going on any vacation. Currently in idle awaiting word on furlough negotiations, but the stand is still: traveling via plane automatically means 2 weeks off. Even if I return to work when they plan which is May 3rd, these rules have been in effect since February so don't see them going away when we do get to return to work.

Actually, a few poster after I posted that Martin and a few others confirmed that there was a minimum amount of maintenance being done. There are certain minimum safety requirements for the rides. It sounds like it will take a week or 2 to ramp up once they bring back the full crew.

We are a long way from my starting position which I hoped made two points: Disney has a unique date base which can help infection tracking because it places large numbers, many thousands of people, at precise locations at a time when infection may have been rife and that data base can track a large percentage of those people both geographically and socially. If combined with subsequent infection rates for communities and individual tracking data, this can provide very useful data that will help the country going forward. It doesn't mean Disney infected these people or that individuals need to be identified as somehow culpable for the disease spreading.

Disney, as any responsible corporation should be making the data available because it has something unique to bring to the table. If it doesn't then it is derelict in its contribution to the country's effort and this should be taken into account when public monies are handed out to support workers and business.
I don’t think we have forgotten your starting position. You just aren’t listening to the fact that the information doesn’t exist like you think it does. It would only represent a fraction of the guests that were present. The information would be useless if handled anonymously. Magicbands which not everyone uses do not pinpoint specific locations and are only tracked at specific sites. And release of personal information would construte a violation of their terms and conditions and open them up to a legal battle they would lose.

Also you are still advocating they be penalized for not doing something that would violate there own agreement with their consumers, violate US privacy laws, and put them in the position to be sued and lose.

@havoc315 I responded via PM as The Mom asked for this conversation to stop here.

I will simply say re: statement of requiring medical documentation - Disney is the one that says there are legal restrictions to requiring proof of disability, not me. As i linked last night: Disney DAS FAQ

Besides the point I brought up the other day which no one has answered or seem to know. Tables spaced apart is fine, which means reduced capacity. Ok. But how does a waitress or waiter take your order from 6 ft away? Yell to you? How is the food put down on the table? Will the servers be required to wear masks when this starts? A order being taken from 6 ft away won’t be possible. Delivery of the food won’t be possible unless all the regulations change.

They could use tablets to order or even the app or wait staff in masks. No way to get the food to you without walking up to the table. Maybe food runners in masks. I think the idea is to keep guests 6ft apart similar to a grocery store now where customers are supposed to keep 6 feet apart but you have to come closer to the deli counter guy or the cashier.

if they don’t end up doing any of the social distancing in queues and they don’t cancel larger shows then what’s the point doing it at a restaurant. It may end up none of this happens or all of it could. I think we need to see how things re-open around the country before we can know which way Disney will lean.

App would be better of course so no one is touching tablets. Still see no way of doing this. Need to keep the waitstaff protected also so anyone being close to the table, like food runners, even with masks doesn’t sound good either. Guess we will all find out in a few months.

Not going happen we will all have to adapt to the social distancing for now and the parks once they open will make sure of that crowd control, It’s the new times take it or leave it. No way they will stay closed for the next 7-12 months and then just open up to everyone.

Yes for fast passes I believe we will be required to book those and when done with the 3 go to kiosk and book again. It’s the changing times this will limit guests in the stand by line.

Again I expect to see crowds down by as much as 50% for the 1st 3-6 months if not longer.

Sea World and Universal are itching to open back up as well, hell construction is moving forward at both Universal sites.

We no longer live in the world we knew 21 days ago and it could be 12-18 months before we ever get back to that world sadly.
