PSA: COVID IS GOING AROUND THE THEME PARK STAFFING AGAIN. IF YOU DO GO INDOORS AT THE PARKS, DO MASK UP!
Well saying that is like spitting into the wind. Not much good. Why do you think we are still dealing with this COVID crap? Because people wouldn't mask up when they were first required to do so. Now that it is optional you think people in this country will care one bit about it? They still think it is a joke or some "commie plot" to steal their freedoms. I get what you are trying to do but anyone smart enough to do the right thing already knows this and the rest are either going to laugh at you ar try to fight you.

Yeah, masks were the difference between stopping it and not stopping it.

With all due respect, covid has been "going around" non-stop since 2020. Not sure what would be unique about a massive theme park that once reported 77k workers.

We go for our third post-closure trip soon and I shouldn't be in this thread lol. We plan to wear masks indoors but we know it's very likely not going to help. It's scary to hear how many people are casually mentioning getting covid from the happiest place on earth. It would be silly if I didn't dread the possibility. This trip is much more expensive than the last and being sick on vacation is horrible.

My neurotic worry is the daily hotel security checks. They sometimes come over when we are there and that makes me uncomfortable since they don't wear masks. Are we allowed to tell them to come back when we're gone? We're almost never in the resort more than two hours or so for mid day naps.

If you are taking a nap put the latch bolt on so security can open but not access the room. Tell them to come back at your requested time.

Thanks that's helpful! I would probably use the do not disturb sign too. We are seriously almost never in the room lol. I understand why they do it but it's definitely an awkward thing in these covid times.

Or maybe because people wouldn't wear a mask when they were supposed to? 🤔
I wore a mask for a year and half, got double vaxxed, stayed home from large gatherings, including family gatherings at holidays, taught virtual for one year, avoided bars and clubs, and still caught it twice. Tell me how effective the mask was at preventing me from getting covid then? Because I'm evidence they they're useless.

It is no longer a Do Not Disturb sign at Disney. It says Room Occupied.

How big was your circle of people where you didn't do these things?

Spouse, kids, some more extended family, a friend or two?

How good were all of those people? Any of them a little more casual about the whole thing?

You're only as strict as your weakest link. In my case, it's mostly the oldest kid, teenagers are such a pain, along with their friends. Occasionally it has also been extended family. Even the most risk adverse people have a more risky day now and then. Luck plays a big role if in one of those the odds work out poorly.

Our upcoming WDW trip will probably be the riskiest thing we've done in 2 years, even if you just look at duration of the activity. We're just coming to terms with that.

So I am going to say this again for the cheap seats.......

Wearing a mask prevented YOU from transmitting it to others, and it gave SOME protection for you against getting it from others. Wearing a mask was never going to be 100% and it was not meant to make sure you did not get the virus. It was in place to keep you from transmitting to others. This has been said to exhaustion.

It depends on the timeframe. From March 2020-July 2020 I was still in FL and lived with a rather irresponsible roommate(s). Then, in August 2020, I moved back to NC and lived alone. I didn't catch it the first time until Jan 2021, after spending Christmas Day at my parents with my siblings. The second round came exactly a year later but from work this time, or so I assume. I always joke that I left FL to avoid covid only to end up catching it twice in a different state :hilarious:

At this point if you are still spewing the lies that masks did not work then that is either intentional or ignorance.
At this point if you are still believing everything from the so-called "experts' its either intentional or ignorance. When I finally broke free from their spell of hysteria my life changed for the better. Thankfully, the spell seems to be breaking for a majority of the populace.

Presumably, you didn't mask with your siblings. I know I didn't over Christmas. So, you were only as strict on mitigation as all of them were. For work, if you didn't mask everywhere at the office, say when in a cube alone, then that was an opening too. Since the last time I was in an office, the air in my cube was about the same as the air in the hallway right outside it and subject to whatever ventilation the building had.

Which means, this part isn't an accurate conclusion.
Because I'm evidence they they're useless.

If the two times you caught COVID were the two times you were less strict about masking and you didn't catch COVID at all in the times when you were strict about masking, it could almost suggest the reverse. That masks work great, you only caught COVID when they were not used strictly.

Masks are just one of many tools in the mitigation process. They're not a silver bullet. They're useful when they're useful.

I'm a teacher, so the only time I was allowed to be mask-less was during my planning, with the door shut, and no students. In reality there is no way to know how I got it the second time. I assume work but it could have easily been from my husband or family. Regardless, I'm thankful I was vaxxed because Round 2 was worse for me than Round 1.
