I don't get all the jubilant (and to my mind premature) "COVID's over, time to move on" from posters who have already made amply clear that they returned to pre-pandemic behaviours months ago. The rest of us will ease back into normality in our own time and according to our own comfort levels. A court ruling isn't going to magically change the way we feel.

I am officially bowing out of this thread for the final time. I think, IMHO, it's time for it to end. The last of the mask mandates from the government is gone, the case counts are down across the board, people are back to their normal lives, it's time to move on. Nothing is being accomplished at this point by continuing to rehash the same issues here. As far as I am concerned, Covid is behind us and life goes on. See you all in the actual Disney-related threads!
People have been basically back to their normal lives for a year now, just with masks. If getting rid of the mask is want normal is then i get it. I have been doing things for that long the same as i did before the pandemic started. I never understood that point but im not the brightest bulb in the room i guess.
There are still close to 500 people dying a day here so its not over. I know I know.. its mostly unvaccinated but just the sheer number of deaths, no matter vaxed or not says its not over. Until the world is vaxxed enough, there will always be a chance that something comes around. So let’s enjoy the masks off for now.. but just keep one in your bottom drawer just in case.

I'm worried that the high tension surrounding this issue will make it so people can't make a choice for themselves without fearing confrontation. Some twitter guy posted a picture of masked people waiting outside of a food truck. They were minding their business and this guy couldn't handle it.
Imagine this. But reverse it and ask yourself how you’d react.

If they weren't wearing masks? I sincerely don't think anyone should be confronted for their choice. Mask or unmasked. We endured years of people accusing anyone that walked around outside without a mask of reckless endangerment. This exact thread got very heated around that time. I've always been in the middle area where I just don't think we should be fighting about what now amounts to a personal choice.

Apparently there may be a small group who can’t handle others being happy about not having to wear a mask on hours long planes rides. This happiness must be questioned? 🤷‍♂️ Misery loves company i guess.

Just as there was a small group of people who reveled in not following the rules throughout the pandemic and tried to do whatever they wanted even if it put other people‘s lives in danger. 🤷‍♂️ Stupidity loves company.

No we did not return to pre-pandemic behaviors months ago. If I was on a flight two days ago I would have been required to mask.

Take all the time you need to ease back in to normality.

The court ruling does not prevent you from masking.

It has no effect on you at all.

I kept my Athleta masks for winter instead of scarves. I find masks warmer and they stay put. Like balaclavas but more comfortable. I do have a stash for doc offices and church in case I'm requested while being paid to sing. Also just in case. I am debating of flights as I am unsure if my mask kept moisture in my nose better leading to less of a sinus headache. We'll see what I do in June.

I've slowly been going back since numbers dropped in February. Like last summer I'm ready to go. I'm 9 months post booster and Pfizer hasn't called me in. Last time it was 10 months so even that might be ending in July

Only one choice. Private plane.

I agree with this. We have a box of KN95's and will pop one on if we feel the need....or not. Anyone else can do the same and hopefully get some benefit. My thinking has been that people were never getting covid in significant numbers from flight. People were flying without masks for quite some time before it became required. The numbers and pacing didn't reflect air travel as a big influence on transmission.

Let me be more specific, then: I don't get all the jubilant (and to my mind premature) "COVID's over, time to move on" from posters who have already made amply clear that they largely returned to pre-pandemic behaviours months ago in their daily lives.

To be clear, I have no issue with someone expressing personal happiness at no longer having to wear masks on flights if that's how they feel. It's such declarations as "It's over, no-one cares anymore" that irk me, because millions of us still do care and will continue to tread cautiously for the time being.

I liked using my mask for warmth in the winter as well. I'm not sure about the moisture and the plane, though. I did have one kind of rough experience with a mask. While waiting for the Magical Express (that dates this occurrence), I had been wearing a mask since we arrived at our home airport with the "Pull it up and take a drink/bite" moments. For some reason while waiting (and it was about an hour), I started feeling dizzy. I don't think that it was the mask, per se, but was probably related to low blood sugar or something. I had to pull my mask off for about five minutes and then started feeling better. Put the mask back on and all was well. That wasn't fun.

I won't miss wearing a mask, though, except in winter.

This whole thing has just been crazy-all-over-the-place.
The architectural firm I work for sent us all home to work from there in late March of 2020.
Productivity suffered a bit. 6 weeks later, they had the vast majority of us come back to the office, under strict protocols…barriers put up, traffic patterns when moving about the office, remain 6 ft. apart, masks at all times except in your office or work station by yourself, big bottles of hand sanitizer provided for us, etc. (we were considered “construction essential”, so the lockdown didn’t apply to us…not only that, but, we did OT for several months after that because we were that busy).
First coworker got Covid not long after. A 25-year-old. He ended up fine, but, the firm spent 10K on an office deep cleaning.
Over the next several months, 3 more young coworkers got Covid. This was before vaccines were available. No 10K deep cleaning for those.
I’m 59, 2 of the four partners are in their early 60’s, and the other 2 are in their late 40’s.
To date, none of us oldsters have gotten it, as far as we know.
I am double vaccinated and boosted, but, I also know of other people that are such and have gotten it.
At the office a while back, the barriers came down, and the traffic patterns were eliminated. Shortly thereafter, the 6 ft. distancing and masks were deemed not mandatory.
We even resumed our fancy office Christmas party before that, and most didn’t wear masks.
I haven’t worn a mask in months (other than flying to and from our late January vacation in Ruidoso, NM).
My Mom, Pop, and MIL are 83, 89, and 85, respectively, and as far as we know, have not had it.
The only family member we know that got it was our nephew at Texas A&M in early 2020.
I don’t know if some of are just naturally immune, or what.
Just let me add…
I’m overweight, have HBP, am borderline type 2 diabetic, and have a heart condition (SVT).
I remember having moments of being pretty scared at some points during it all, but, not so much anymore. I’m too old for this ****…!!!!! :hilarious:
