Didn't they extend it the last time at 8 days out from it's expiration? We are past that threshold so......
Back then, people said the same thing about being less than 30 days.

Presumably, they're going to announce "something". That's the theory everyone had for why they extended it at all to begin with the last time.

I wouldn't count it one way or the other until Friday. Even then, not sure if that's Friday morning or close of business on Friday.

That "something" could be anything from "just ending", "some nuanced changes", "just extending".

Also keep in mind Friday is a holiday.

I don't know if it is still the case, but when I was growing up in RI we usually had a break from school starting on Good Friday through the following week. So that might increase travel - and spread Covid from areas to where cases are rising into areas where they have been stable.

That's why the morning vs end of day difference. It is a District of Columbia holiday not a federal one, but in theory a different office outside the district could issue the new rules.

The current rule doesn't expire until Monday. Active including Monday if I read it right. So, while a Friday announcement isn't great, unless they announce an immediate end, nobody is doing anything different until next Tuesday. If they are planning that end of the choices, to just let it end with nothing else at all, a next Monday announcement is possible. Avoid people complaining over the weekend about doing anything for the last days.

It's definitely Spring Break season right now. My kids are home now, through Monday, 6 days off. All of April really, depending on where people are.

If I was flying Sunday. I would not be wearing a mask. It’s pure silliness. That’s why they must just end it. No reason to wait a few extra days.

“Effective immediately, masks no longer required.”

Anything else is asking for trouble.

How many more days until the mask public transportation rule expires?
you don't wanna know 8 ball GIF by Yevbel

Supposed to end April 18th

It is not a federal holiday. Tax day was moved due to DC local Emancipation Day which usually April 16 but falls on a Saturday this year.

10 days last time

Oh you silly people (teasing)... we had spring break weeks ago! Seriously we did - March 13-21. I haven't had an April spring break since I was in Catholic school. Though once in a blue moon we'd head back around the 1st of April. Locally we have mid March through Passover or Easter depending.

Wife and kids are out at 1:25 pm Thursday and, God willing, we take-off Friday at 9 am. I’m as giddy as a school boy.

A lot of IL has Spring Break this week, as do many other schools across the country, for Easter.
