You wrote, "The faster it mutates itself down in severity", without considering the opposite scenario.

Vaccination remains our best way out of this crisis. Yes, COVID would remain with us, but the harm it can cause would be much reduced.
Just because its not typed doesnt mean its not considered. My original statement is still accurate.

Assuming I have a mild case, my feelings of sadness will be an emotionally driven more than anything. My father nearly died of COVID, so the prospect of getting infected carries a lot of personal baggage for me.
Covid has taken its toll on many. My college buddy at age 52 passed from complications on NYE morning in the hospital, a good number are expected at the wake and funeral but I have decided not to go.

I don’t think it’s fatalistic to acknowledge that we are all very likely going to contract COVID sooner or later; this is now the medical consensus (if I’m not mistaken). Of course, the doesn’t mean we shouldn’t protect ourselves and society at large by getting vaccinated and taking additional steps (masking, distancing, etc.) to slow the spread.
I agree. The fatalism I’m protesting is we’re going to get it, there’s nothing we can do, and masks and vaccines don’t do any good. so therefore I’m going to do nothing and live life as usual.

The Miami Herald reported that Florida is now at a daily average of 56,421 or 263 per 100k. This is another day and another increase. Hopefully we are near the end of the wave and that the country doesnt have another day of 1 million plus new cases.

Most states are still increasing quickly so don’t think we’re at the peak yet, a couple million cases a day wouldn't surprise me.

There are a few states who have remained steady for a few days, even a couple who are down this week, so hopefully that’s a good sign we‘ll peak quickly. I just don’t think we are there yet.

Your original statement implies that a known benefit (being vaccinated) is less important than a hypothetical benefit (the virus mutating itself into something like a cold). It is not accurate.
It does not imply that and as a fully vaccinated and boosted individual I continue to believe that we will continue with this in our lives until it mutates its self down as it appears it has mutated itself to having the ability to evade vaccinations.

What are you saying is a true statement? Because it reads like you are making the claim that viruses evolve to be less severe, which is not a true statement.
Viruses evolve. Some to be more virulent. Some less. Go reread my statement and tell me its not true.

Don’t worry. No states seem to be interested anyways. An no one likes my idea and getting rid of all mitigation except vaccines to let omicron run it’s course through the population. :)

Many states are doing that already, other than a few states with mask mandates and some virtual schooling I’d argue most.

Now that vaccines are available to anyone over 5 I think even the CDC is leaning that way also.
