I view it as being pragmatic and realistic rather than giving up. Again, one can accept that we will all encounter COVID at some point and continue to promote and take steps to prevent becoming infected.I just recently saw a doctor on CNN say that the vaccine and mask will not help stop the spread of Omicron. I wonder if they have given up or if this is the part where the virus keeps getting weaker and weaker to survive and basically becomes the "flu"?
I know that I will feel very upset when my turn comes, mostly because I've been very, very cautious. I'm trying from now to reconcile myself to the fact that it will happen and that, when it does, I can rest assured that I've done all I can to slow the spread and protect myself from a severe case.
