You are quoting one of the more pessimistic posters. Let's not jump to a year. It's seriously an unknown. Ingo in about 2 weeks for a 6 month booster follow up blood draw.I'm still scared about this. Is really gonna happen or not?
Deliveries are certainly available to anyone within the circumference to utilize my local Shoprite, which is not served by public transportation.Deliveries are not available everywhere, require a certain level of technology to be available and cost more (and I know, you have nothing but scorn and contempt for those dirty poors who don’t live near a grocery stores). People who are more vulnerable tend to have medical issues which means some level of care needs to be available.
This still ignores the issue of huge numbers of people just being out sick everywhere else.
That you live within the delivery radius of a grocery store means others do as well?Deliveries are certainly available to anyone within the circumference to utilize my local Shoprite, which is not served by public transportation.
Everyone who goes there has a car, and most of them quite decent ones, as the supermarket primarily serves upper middle class to upper class surrounding neighborhoods.
When I saw the age and condition of some of the people there when we were in the earlier stages of covid, and were unsure of how bad it was going to get (over flowing morgues? tent hospitals full of the dying? hospital ships in similar situations?) I truly didn't understand why some of those people would risk the trip. And as I said before, risk it in makeshift hazmat attire.
What are you doing here? You don't have to be here.
We're they hanging out in the locker room or something?Every player (except Matthew Tkachuk) of the Calgary Flames has tested positive since Dec 13. All vaccinated, all minor cases.
Omicron is a different beast, it’s breakthrough rate is mind boggling, fortunately it looks like the cases among the vaccinated are staying mild.
Despite the whole team being positive in the last 16 days they are practicing again, 16 days from the beginning of their outbreak to the players back on the ice practicing.
That seems to be what is happening everywhere I keep hearing about - at least anecdotally - it's no longer a couple of people got it here and there, so you send them off to isolate - once one person starts to get symptoms and seems to expose a team/work place/etc. - it's already too late and it's spread amongst the majority.
And again, anecdotally - I work in travel, and cancellations are already up again this week from people who were exposed over Christmas - between this and New Year's, I have a feeling the numbers for the beginning of January are going to unfortunately be very grim, indeed.

Vaccine passports and masks mandates in action.

It's why there is no reason to get all upset over mandates and restrictions. Nobody can change it so the best bet is learn to live your life.Makes me wonder how long people will hold on to the idea that we are in control of this?
83% of adults in NYC are fully vaccinated, another 8% are partially vaccinated, 55% of kids over 5 have at least one dose, they have mask mandates, they have vaccine passports, they have social distancing… it’s time to accept it’s not something we can control, we can have an impact on it but the idea we can stop it seems crazy at this point.
Hold on folks, it’s gonna be a bumpy ride and as much as people don’t want to admit it we’re passengers.

It's not about control. It's about the speed at which we hit the wall. Our choices are full-speed (which is less than the full-speed we would have been traveling before vaccines) or keep trying to pump the breaks. How full-speed became the "reasonable" choice over pumping breaks I don't know.Makes me wonder how long people will hold on to the idea that we are in control of this?

When a huge chunk of the worlds population decided not to get vaccinated even when they had easy access to it?How full-speed became the "reasonable" choice over pumping breaks I don't know.
Are "Break Through" cases even a thing anymore or is there a different terminology?Makes me wonder how long people will hold on to the idea that we are in control of this?

I am sorry that you and all the affected healthcare workers are going to be standing between the car and the wall during the impact.Andrew C I’m not joking. We have far more unvaccinated people then Europe. Hospitals being overrun is a very real possibility.
