I wrote months ago on here that the government needs to provide individuals with a cash incentive to get vaccinated. Biden encouraged states today to offer $100 payments to those getting vaccinated. I don’t believe that’s enough of an incentive. Pay people $500 or more, and maybe you’ll see the number of vaccinated individuals rapidly move upward.

Does that include cutting checks to those of us responsible enough to get vaccinated months ago? Or are we just bribing, and rewarding, the irresponsible?

Here’s the issue no one’s answering. The people requiring hospitalization and/or dying are the unvaccinated adults. They are adults, meaning they’ve have had three months at a minimum to get their vaccines. They chose not to do so and now they are paying the price, like adults do. Why penalize those who took responsibility and got fully vaccinated?

There has been a significant increase in hospitalized children, many seriously.

from a Wall Street Journal column ( https://www.wsj.com/amp/articles/cd...side-effects-hospitalization-kids-11626706868 )

“A tremendous number of government and private policies affecting kids are based on one number: 335. That is how many children under 18 have died with a Covid diagnosis code in their record, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Yet the CDC, which has 21,000 employees, hasn’t researched each death to find out whether Covid caused it or if it involved a pre-existing medical condition.”

“My research team at Johns Hopkins worked with the nonprofit FAIR Health to analyze approximately 48,000 children under 18 diagnosed with Covid in health-insurance data from April to August 2020. Our report found a mortality rate of zero among children without a pre-existing medical condition such as leukemia.

Interesting comments from a couple of posters today. Is it possible on a Disney forum, of all places, that we can agree we we care whether or not people die, even if they are unvaccinated and it means the vaccinated have to a wear a mask? I mean, seriously, think about the priorities there.
Translation - the unvaccinated refuse to wear masks indoors so now the vaccinated have to. My patience with these people is reaching a breaking point. Here’s a portion of an article I just read and it is exactly how I feel. I can’t post the whole thing due to political content:

“Compassion should always be the first reaction to vaccine hesitation. Maybe some unvaccinated people have trouble getting time off work to deal with side effects, maybe they are disorganized, maybe they are just irrationally anxious. But there’s no getting around the truth that some considerable number of the unvaccinated are also behaving willfully and spitefully. Yes, they have been deceived and manipulated by garbage TV, toxic Facebook content, and craven or crazy politicians. But these are the same people who keep talking about “personal responsibility.” In the end, the unvaccinated person himself or herself has decided to inflict a preventable and unjustifiable harm upon family, friends, neighbors, community, country, and planet.”

Just rewarding the irresponsible.

Here in NY, they have been giving away free subway and commuter train tickets, free museum, theatre, and concert tickets, entering people into lotteries where they could win thousands of dollars, and paying for college. My own company is giving away 5 prizes of $15,000, and you’re entered to win if you get vaccinated. Since I was vaccinated in April, I get none of the above. Grrrrr.

This is why I say tax the hell out of them. They don't deserve a "prize" for doing what they should have to begin with. It's like giving a kid who spit in the teacher's face a candy bar.

Or telling a kid that they need to do x number or chores in order to get their allowance, then giving them even more than their allowance even though they never did the chores.

I feel like... it's a $100, I'm not crying that I won't get it. If it gets shots in arms, I'm alright with it.

Let's get this done.
I don't think it will at all...it's not enough.

And as the parent of 2 autistic children who has faced many challenges similar to this, rewarding bad behavior is NOT the way to go. They'll just expect even more when it comes time for boosters.
