Ah ok thanks for that...there has been uproar here in the uk about the eu stopping what we have paid for and in the list of countries they want to limit exports of the vaccine to I did see Canada was on the list as well as Australia and America So I wondered how it would affect America’s supply but your reply makes sense...any Canadians on this board have any insight about what the feeling towards the eu are about their decision?

Canada has been pretty derailed. The projected February supply is now 80% less than what it was supposed to be. I am hopeful things will get back on track for the middle of the vaccination campaign, but the start has not been stellar.

Almost 1.2 million 65+ have gotten at least one dose. Should be up to 1/3 of that population within a week. If the supply keeps up, getting all 65+ who want the vaccine at least the first shot by the end of March is realistic.
In theory the supply nationally should almost double pretty soon. They were talking about being at around 10M doses a week which is good but Pfizer and Moderna have delivered around 50M of the 220M doses they are projecting to deliver by the end of March. With 9 weeks to go they will have to average about 19M doses a week to hit their target so some time soon doses will have to start ramping up. In theory if the companies hit targets and FL gets the same percent of the National doses going forward they should be getting about 11M additional Pfizer and Moderna shots by the end of March.

Sadly, We will NEVER be done with the flu comparisons. In fact, when this is all over you will have a group of people saying "see, it wasn't that bad..."

Speaking of the flu, here is the CDC's data on pediatric deaths from the flu. Definitely good news and hopefully some of our newly-learned health measures can keep this number lower in future years.

I figured that a dump of negative tests were coming. This data has to be looked at week over week to be interpretable.
Yup

These lab dumps are getting ridiculous

There is no way to get accurate results when they do these dumps like this.

It was obvious with yesterday's numbers that another dump was coming today.

Here's a question for you all. Do you think Disney will make the vaccine mandatory? Some people are talking about it being mandatory at music concerts, movie theaters etc.

Don't know if they will or not but I hope they do (once it is available to all who want it) as an incentive for people to get it. Some percentage of the looney tunes will accept the nanobot injection to take their family to WDW. That's what Bill Gates is counting on!

To enter the parks or to enter Disney Property?

Parks its a possibility.

Disney property, NO I don't think so.

You have DVC members who actually OWN property at Disney. To restrict them and require them to get the vaccine opens up a HUGE can of worms for Disney.

Specifically to parks or to stay in a room or DVC - no. DCL might be out of their hands if any port nation requires it or market forces from major competitors makes it “industry standard.”

We’ve discussed this as nauseam.

No time soon. They would only be able to really do that once the vaccine is available to anyone who wants it, including children. Right now even if all adults who want the vaccine have it by May or June, kids under 12 won’t. And the 5-12 group may not have it before the end of the summer. Unless they plan to exempt children which makes no sense they won’t be able to realistically require vaccines until Fall at the very earliest and maybe not until 2022.

It’s my hope that we reach herd immunity and don’t need a vaccine requirement anywhere well before the fall. If the vaccine program is a success then the cases will be so low that most things will return without needing any special requirements. If the vaccine rollout stalls or fails it may be possible that in order to get the vast majority of people back to a version of life as normal this fall or winter places like NFL games, concerts and theme parks could start requiring proof of vaccination. I see it as more of a plan B should enough people resist the vaccine. What I don’t see companies doing is starting to require proof before it’s available to everyone. That would be a big mistake and cause even more negative feelings towards the vaccine rollout.

I hope they do. Expect cruise lines to do it for sure.
International travel is likely too in the medium term. There will be parts of the world that are slower to get out of the pandemic. For cruise ships especially if they want to allow passengers off for excursions.

*sigh* I wanted to avoid the brexit argument which is why I asked here but since you brought it up the UK is vastly ahead in our vaccination progress because of brexit. if we were still in the union We would be in the same crappy place they are with a vaccine shortfall and scrambling around trying to get them, their rule not only affects the uk but Australia as well would your reply be the same to an Australian?
I was (and remain) staunchly opposed to Brexit, and I think the British government has handled the pandemic terribly, but as far as the vaccine rollout is concerned, you are right. The EU has really failed its citizens.

I’m interested on how you came to this idea?

DVC owners were restricted from going to “the property they own” when the resorts were closed in 2020. Owners are also required to follow all of the rules Disney lays out. You cannot bring a gun with you into a DVC room even if you are an owner. There’s zero reason why Disney couldn‘t restrict DVC owners for Covid vaccines too. Not saying they will do it, but if they don’t that won’t be the reason why they don’t do it.
