How does this have anything to do with WDW? I just had a chicken sandwich. They serve chicken sandwiches at WDW. Does that meet the guidelines for discussion?
Check out the revised thread title.

It escalated very quickly here, too. There was a single high school student who had traveled to Milan mid-February and didn't feel well, and on March 5th, we were notified that there's be no school on the 6th so the long weekend could be spent disinfecting all the town's schools. A few days later on the 9th, we got the good news that the student tested negative. Still zero confirmed (or even presumed) positives in our county (when I checked yesterday), and all cases of presumed or verified positive are well north and northwest of us, but we were notified on the 13th that there would be no school from the 16th-27th. While I'm glad steps to minimize spread are being taken, I really fear that the town jumped the gun. (But I do realize that the likelihood of no one in our county having COVID-19 are slim if not impossible.)This is my biggest fear. I hope my state doesn’t react like this.. but I do think they were one of the first to close schools, complete blindsiding everyone, so I wouldn’t be surprised. I just pray it doesn’t happen.
I do know that a casino close by in Indiana, they are closing starting today I think.
Nope. You may as well say... but I’m not engaging.
ALL business are essential because they provide jobs and income so people can feed their families and pay their rent/mortgage. This is government overreach and insanity. I'm tempted to open a business just to gather 500 people and then fight the restriction all the way to the Supreme Court. I'm not okay with this country becoming a dictatorship to deal with this "crisis."
i miss vmk..All those "Disneyland is Closing" videos reminded me of the final moments of VMK and the videos people made about their final moments in game before the servers shut down.
I changed it just now out of frustration. Why it should remain in WDW News and Rumors is beyond me.
Oh, I forgot you were the OP!
These are exceptional times. Moving the thread to the Politics and Social Issues section would lock out anyone with fewer than 100 posts. I’m glad the moderators are just letting us roll with it here—it’s strangely cathartic.
I don’t know why @wdwmagic still thinks this has anything to do with WDW any longer. It has devolved into a politics and social issues thread. I made a post there. There’s no reason these “discussions” should mutate and infect other parts of the board.
Even the ventilator shortage in general is given too much weight. People on ventilators are very sick to begin with. Having this shortage due to COVID-19 does not mean all of a sudden healthy people will start dropping like flies.
Well, here's another one.

And angry much of the time. I created it to discuss the imminent closure of WDW. I assumed that by this point, there’d be a social issues thread. It seems most here meet the quota. But I’ll let it go and self-quarantine myself from it.
And did the British Virgin Islands sink into the sea?
Correct. But that’s a lot better than our data set.George,
You do realize that only 0.4% of the population has been tested in Korea.
i read that halfway through and started to say "why isn't this making me laugh..."Right now we’re in a fog due to lack of testing. If we had gotten ramped up like S. Korea we may have parts of the country under strict quarantine and parts relatively unaffected. This has led to a probably necessary over reaction. The second unknown is how our national and state governments will respond to increased N once testing is ramped up. Ideally, we find out it’s not a big deal in most areas of the country. I don’t think this will be the case at this point because our batting average (positives/number of tests) is too high. Fingers crossed that we’ll still get lucky. If N is high once we can do a lot of tests, you could see a response where there’s a lot more self quarantining for testing positive and things open back up or there are some areas where the elderly are isolated and everything else is OK or the asymptomatic cases are common enough that we’re in a truly unprecedented landscape. I think in 2-3 weeks we’ll have a lot better idea of what the next few months hold. It’s going to be hard no matter what. My 99 year old grandma loves visitors and is going crazy. My worry wart 16 year old son is freaked because his SAT was cancelled and he doesn’t know when it will be made up. The accelerator in my lab is broke and I have to come in and essentially be a mechanic. We’re racing to get it fixed before we’re told not to come in. We’re all dealing with this and all we can do is support each other. I doubt as a society we’ll pick the best response. I also doubt we’ll pick the worst. Let’s hope we trend as close to best as possible.

^^^^ Times 1000!!! With the parks and resorts closed/closing, I come here to see if anything new and pertinent has popped up in discussion, since I generally like to avoid the bull that has become the media news outlets. And I love that for the most part, we can count on each other for good information. Please stay! You may not have intended to do so, but you’ve created something that really does feel helpful and reassuring at this bizarre time.

It is almost impossible to keep such a broad topic as this strictly on track to WDW. Especially now that we know the short term future of the parks.I don’t know why @wdwmagic still thinks this has anything to do with WDW any longer. It has devolved into a politics and social issues thread. I made a post there. There’s no reason these “discussions” should mutate and infect other parts of the board.
