Just so people do not fall into gaslighting by reading only the headline:

“It’s not universally recommended, but if you really want to be complete, you should probably use it if you can,” he continued. But one reason that this hasn’t been pushed for the general public yet, he suggested, is because, “it’s so easy for people to just make a cloth mask.”

And getting Americans to agree to wear a face mask that fully covers their nose and mouth in public has been enough of a struggle, as it is. How would they react to being told to shield their eyes, too?

So he is not saying you have to do this but that it is an open source for the transmission so yeah, it would make sense but it is not being recommended.

Calm down people.

We see how number of deaths trails a surge of cases.

But, that should be a reminder that when you see a surge of cases, one shouldn't ignore it because deaths haven't gone up. They will follow.

And while number of cases is going down, and that's a good thing, the percent positive isn't. It's plateauing. Which means the community spread is not really under control. Which means it would be really easy for numbers to surge again.

Agreed. It says right in the story that right now they are not recommending eye protection for the general public. Eye protection has been standard for healthcare works dealing with Covid all along. This really isn’t a big deal. However, if it turns out through further research that eyes are a larger source of infection than originally thought it may become a standard recommendation for the general public. Our knowledge of the virus is constantly changing and we should all expect recommendations to change. If it turns out that goggles or face shields become standard in the future we may look back and say WDW wasn’t as safe as we thought it was.

Pains me to say this, but we officially cancelled our Silver AP's. As South Florida residents, we would make the trip 2-4 times a year, but we can't see ourselves going anytime soon with everything that's going on.

We'll be back as soon as it's safe and WDW returns to some sort of normal.
Me too. Not a S Florida resident but DVC owner and regular visitor. I’ll be back for sure...it’s just gonna be a little while.

What happened to Mr. Good News on this website? The guy who would try to spin these horrible numbers as somehow improving? Haven't seen his comments lately.

Interesting perspective:

Wow. Keep in mind Seaworld saw a 95% drop too.

If this keeps in line with WDW....

It's Q3 revenue from Parks was $6.6 billion. Assuming a 95% drop, that would mean it somehow would earn $330 million in revenue for this Q3. That's a $6.3 billion drop.

Right now the quarantine for out-of-state visitors ends September 1. I'm not a betting man, but I'd wager a large sum that gets extended (again).

And the current plan is to adopt the Alaska model which requires testing 72 hours before and during the visit OR Mandatory 14 day quarantine.
