Is Florida the worst for cases as a percentage of population? I know most states are increasing right now so if someone is doing worse, I feel like I want to dunk on them for a while. So whats going on in New Mexico, Nevada and Montana? :p
I Just saw on Twitter that as far as this current outbreak Florida is still number one. Arizona is number two. But we have a new contender coming in at number three: Missouri. Over the last nine days they’re averaging 14,500 cases per day.

Edit: of course checking Missouri stats. I don’t know what the source For that high a number came for. They are at peak cases for the last nine days but it’s more like 1400 per day. Maybe messed up decimal.

right I’ll answer this as you decided to throw an angry face at my message without actually understanding it properly!

there were no restrictions put in place whilst there was a spike! They continually said there was no major concern and they were monitoring. They put in new testing centres and mass tested lots of people in three days in the town - despite the extra testing within the outbreak area they found a total of three extra cases from that testing! Without restrictions the numbers fell from 27 in 100,000 to 6.4 after today’s numbers - despite this drop in cases they NOW decide to put in more restrictions including closing the parks at 7pm! Restricting businesses and other measures! How is this justified when our rolling average of number of cases is about 0.8 a day? When it was 5 a day maybe but not when it has dropped so far despite mass testing in the outbreak areas! Our local media has gone mental - they report on historical data as new cases, constantly say we are on a verge of a local lockdown! Seriously!! Our town is dead as it is! No one is using the shops, businesses are failing everywhere, our pubs are empty our churches are still shut and now thetre closing our parks and threatening that our schools won’t go back unless we behave ourselves! Again for 6 cases in a week!

and I’m sorry if you truly believe that for three cases you want a timed local lockdown then I’m afraid nowhere will ever stay open and there will be nothing left when you finally want to live again! I’m fully supportive of local lockdowns in the case of blackburn - but even they were sensible and mass tested and tried to give two weeks before other measures would come in! Our figures have dropped like a stone and yet they are still threatening us like children! I mean they even closed the public toilets in the town centre again!
First of all thanks for taking the trouble to reply and clarify your points. I agree that I may have misunderstood parts of your post which added to my angry face response!

The thread you were replying to was about Sweden so I presumed you wished to stick to Sweden’s plan of doing very little. I was also confused about the lockdown- I thought you meant the one in March where cases were clearly out of control and in my opinion, actions were definitely needed and justified.

If cases are decreasing again in your area then adding further restrictions would indeed be ridiculous. However, if the recent lockdown has helped towards the recent reduction and raised awareness of precautions within the BAME community then I can see some limited justification. Based on what you have said it would seem sensible to open up again - especially the toilets!!

As for wanting a short term local lockdown in my area I would still ask for this as we have moved from less than 5 cases on average per day till last Thursday and we are now at 15 per day, so I think it needs very careful monitoring but is primarily amongst young pub goers who are less willing to mask and distance according to our local press, which of course may or may not be true.

Anyway hope all goes well in your area and in mine!

Ooooh....jealous here. I don’t follow the DLP threads - how were the crowds?

busier than I expected at the weekends - worked out they are at about 1/3 capacity I reckon - they are opening more hotels from this weekend (including the main Disneyland hotel on the first) so we will see how it is then.

I have to admit I felt safer there than in the uk - full mask compliance - I got told off for mine slipping down my nose once haha but they were very on the ball. Restaurants were well organised but it just felt very normal - people were relaxed and happy whilst being sensible and respectful - I really wish I was back there as I hate ng country at the moment - the level of fear and distrust here is so depressing and people seem to be walking round like zombies
