Tracing is extremely difficult for place like a theme park. The department of health cannot just pin a positive case on Great Wolf Lodge or WDW if the infected person went other places too. Also if a person goes to WDW then tests positive they aren’t going to even try to trace anyone who was at WDW that day. Too many people. If anything is confirmed it could be on the worker side. There have been some social media leaks on infections of employees at various places but again, hard to formally announce that without definitive proof that the infection occurred at work.
So I was just wondering if that is the case in schools too? I guess the big difference is that in schools, you have the same people coming in every day.

Just so people do not fall into gaslighting by reading only the headline:

So he is not saying you have to do this but that it is an open source for the transmission so yeah, it would make sense but it is not being recommended.

Calm down people.
I did read the whole article. I heard this earlier when this all started. I was not trying to panic anyone. The only thing that came to mind was what next and laughed. There will come a time and I think before the end of the year, people are just going to say screw it.

I think that’s probably true. Same as a work site. For instance it’s easier to pin an infection on a meat packing plant if the person really hasn’t done much but go to work there and someone else tested positive there. Kids in school will likely be the same. With a theme park most people are doing other stuff too and there’s so many people coming and going it’s hard to be sure they got sick there since community spread is rampant. If you look at the measles outbreak at DLR a few years back they were able to trace the outbreak to the Disneyland park because most of the infected people had been there at the same time. With Covid it’s just As likely you got it at the airport or a grocery store or a restaurant or the mall. It’s everywhere.

Anyone with half a brain could have told you this was going to happen. Will be very sad to see how many lives lockdowns wind up costing here.

Question numbers, but post a study commissioned by Economic Insight where there are no outlines (at least in that article) on how those deaths were calculated?

I'm sure they also have some good articles for why environmental policies are bad for business.....

The new normal.......

At any rate, I'd be more nervous traveling in January than now. Covid is likely going to stay and flu will join it along with the revolving door of winter yuck. No thanks.
I’m not going anywhere any time soon. Traveling out of state, especially if cases are spiking where you are or where you are going, isn’t a great idea and if you do have to do it you should definitely quarantine for 14 days when you get home and I don’t have that kind of time. I doubt that gets any better by Feb when his DVC points expire but who knows. If his home state is doing well by then and Hawaii stays good it’s possible that a trip to Aulani could be better than trying to go to WDW now (which he said he already cancelled).

You know what's funny?
My district already pulled the trigger on all virtual to start. I actually thought they had a good plan, but it is what it is.
I think I mentioned this already. But my district had an in person option ready and announced (which I chose) only to be told by the county that they couldn’t do this until after September 28th. So the district explained this to us. Then the state AG came out and said the counties and local officials cannot make these types of broad decisions for all, as the order that was passed that allowed for some flexibility didn’t allow for this specifically. It was very confusing all around. Then the school came back and said they heard what the AG said but they were still going to start virtual until September 28th. But to expect more announcements as the start of school gets closer, which is August 13th. Essentially a mess.

We don’t go back until after Labor Day but the district felt it was likely that the state or county could mandate all virtual between now and the start of school so they preemptively pulled the trigger. Takes the decision out of my hands and I hope they at least use the extra time to get everything ready. The system looks like a huge upgrade over what we had in the Spring. Execution is yet to be determined.

I'm curious if the school changes/delays etc will impact Disney's typical, fall break/holiday crowds.
With a large portion of the population having quarantine requirements for anyone traveling to FL anyone with kids going to physical school would not be able to go to WDW during the school year without missing an additional 2 weeks of school. With more and more schools going virtual that’s less of an issue for WDW since the kids can serve their quarantine at home doing virtual school.

Heck, if my DD is doing virtual school we can find a nice 2-hr line for FoP, pull out the chromebook, and do virtual school in line. :D
