It’s not a big deal to huge majority of people. That’s probably why. 🤷‍♂️
Well with over 30 states now stopping the move forward, and most putting some kind of restrictions back into place, and every poll I have seen that says60 or more percent of people favoring stay at home orders, I tend to disagree with your “huge majority” statement. Unless you can show me your sources on this.

I'm sorry but I just cannot get over the fact that multiple states are averaging 10,000 cases PER DAY and people are going on likes its NBD.
Yesterday our Governor had to issue orders to retrench bc he saw models showing cases per day higher than April in our future. After battling to a 7 day average of under 400 in June, we’re now 2x. He asked all businesses that can to re-implement telework. My company never went back so we’re good. I spoke with a friend in another part of the state. She’s been back for a few weeks. I asked, so are you WFH again starting tomorrow? Nope, the owner of the company is seeking opinions. About a mandate.

BTW Governor says it’s people not wearing masks and folks returning from southern state vacations creating the increase.

I’ll try again. The poster said he can’t believe many people are going about living like it’s no big deal. You responded that it’s not to the “ huge majority “. I responded with what the majority of states are doing now and every poll released showing that most people think there should be stricter restrictions. You responded with a chart from the cdc showing nothing we have been talking about. I’ll wait.

I’ll be clear.

Covid is not a big deal to the majority of people. Covid is not a big deal to the majority of people who get it.

If your perception is that it’s a big deal to you, that’s a different thing. And you are entitled to feel that way.

I was simply pointing out WHY so many people were willing to go to WDW, or Universal, or out to eat, or to the beach, or to a friends pool party,

That's factually not true. Look at any reputable poll and the majority of the country is extremely concerned.

Can we take the middle ground and say Covid is no big deal to a group of people? Obviously, based on some of the behavior we have seen. I’m not sure its close to the majority. Generally speaking it’s young people and a smaller group obsessed with politics. I think the vast majority of people are deeply concerned by Covid, deeply concerned that the economy is in the toilet and deeply concerned that we are heading for another round of stay at home orders.

No. It’s factually true. To the vast majority of people in our country, especially the ones in the age brackets you see out and about, Covid is objectively not a big deal.

You’re arguing a different point. A vast majority of Americans believe Covid is the most important issue facing this country.

9/10 people who get Covid aren’t hospitalized, which according to you makes it minor.

These are not analogous.

Provide proof. According to recent polls, a majority of respondents do not want schools fully open in person...and yet you think "the vast majority" are not concerned about the virus?

A sample of diehard disney fans on the internet does not equal the country.

This year really bites...squirrels with the Black Death...bring on the locusts

As others have said, this happens. Plague can also be treated. Most years there are less than 10 human cases in the US and maybe a death or two. Since it gets brought up too, there are still cases of leprosy each year in Florida. Also treatable. Yay for antibiotics!

I think most people are somewhere between the two extremes of afraid to leave home, and acting like covid doesn’t exist. I acknowledge covid is serious, but at the same time carry on with living life while taking the recommended precautions. I’m local so I have been to the parks since they reopened. I have felt safe with all the precautions that have been put in place, and since it’s only minutes from home there’s no travel involved to get there.
Right. Just because people aren’t locked in their house afraid doesn’t mean they think Covid is no big deal. The vast majority of people think it’s a big deal...for obvious reasons.
