It’s not front page news...I had to scroll all the way to the business section to find anything.
Why would you think CNN would not want to cover news about a vaccine? I may be off in my thinking but isn’t it the “other side” that keeps railing on about how we can’t wait for a vaccine because it may never come so everyone should just go back to life as normal, lock away the old people, don’t be afraid of a virus. Etc... I’m trying to understand why CNN would be opposed to a vaccine. In all of the polling I have seen Democrats (the target audience of CNN) were more likely to be vaccinated than Republicans. Here’s a sample of polling done, a bit dated but I doubt that has changed much.

They aren't opposed to a vaccine. They report on it at the same time as all the other outlets do. Some people choose to see things as they want and not how they are.

If you read my post above it was plastered on the front page for a few hours yesterday afternoon/evening.

Heck I was watching CNN yesterday and they cut from commercial break with the "BREAKING NEWS" lead in to talk about the vaccine findings.

I’m no fan of CNN these days. I do think some of the talking heads can be over the top on this whole situation, but I would think a vaccine development would be right in their wheelhouse for coverage. I’m genuinely curious to hear why anyone would think the opposite.

If this is true- doesn’t everyone need n95 masks? Especially people that have had to return to work/grocery store clerks/store clerks/cast members? Anyone who actually HAS to be out there where masks are non mandated?
This research reinforces it, but we know we need N95s. If we had launched a WWII-style, all-hands-on deck, full-production push back in March to make N95s readily available, this is over now.

Any kind of mask is great, cuts transmission to some extent, and thus helps control the virus. N95s would multiply the positive effects of masks significantly.

But in our happy reality, even hospitals can't get enough N95s...

Funny we don't talk about this bit of news?
We don't? Because this is a slightly better written confirmation and contextualization of the story that was discussed at great length in at least two threads yesterday - complete with statistical analysis, consideration of the impact, analysis of the article itself, listing of further questions that needed to be answered...

Why do you think we wouldn't have discussed it?

At some point it will become unsustainable to keep things open (NOTE- I'm not just referring to disney world).
Universal is still pretending they are going to have HHN, though they haven't officially announced it yet.

What do you think the covid numbers will be when they announce the event? (Trick question, they won't.)

We all need to escape the land of make-believe.

Alabama has announced a state-wide mask requirement -

"Alabama Gov. Kay Ivey is adding a mask requirement to the state’s safer-at-home order.

In a news conference Wednesday, Ivey said the number of positive cases and hospitalizations is going in the wrong direction, and she urged people to wear masks to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

“Folks, the numbers don’t lie,” she said.

The new requirement calls for people to wear a covering over their mouth and nose in public places within 6 feet of people and where there are gatherings of 10 or more people. It contains exceptions for children ages 6 and younger, people with medical conditions that prevent them from wearing a covering.

The order goes into effect at 5 p.m. July 16 and lasts through the end of the month.

There also are exceptions for people who are seated in a restaurant or eating and drinking, or for people receiving a service such as a dental or medical procedure. People also can remove their coverings to identify themselves under the order."

At this point I’m not sure why just about every state hasn’t just moved towards a mask rule. It would just make things so much easier if it was a consistent message. People just need to give in to the notion that the only way to move forward and keep as much of the economy open as possible is to follow some simple protocols including masks and social distancing. Masks have been a reality where I live for months now and I think for the most part people have just accepted the new norm. There was some apprehension at first and it was pretty uncomfortable (mentally, not just physically) but people are more adaptable than we realize. Now it’s second nature.
