But they could be running out of options.
Forced herd immunity with “acceptable losses” just isn’t gonna sell.

I think it’s more a fever dream for lockdown addicts. I still hope that these southern governors don’t cave, they are way past the point where a lockdown will matter.
Should be interesting to see how NY and NJ do going forward. We are opening up, despite still having higher numbers then the southern states did when they opened.
There’s some science behind the idea that 20% infection is all we need to effectively reach herd immunity, NY and NJ may have already reached that point, so maybe our reopening will be just fine.
Kinda revealed a lot just like the other poster did.

There’s no winning here. This board is full of glass half empty types. If WDW announced they were closing for a year they’d be jumping up and down laughing at the people cancelling their trips.

NY/NJ isn't anywhere close to herd immunity.

If it is your significant other/child/parent/best friend and they die do you shrug your shoulders and say ‘oh well people die every day!’. Jeeeeez wake up. These people losing their lives have loved ones that are suffering. These people DIED ALONE FACE DOWN IN A HOSPITAL BED STRUGGLING FOR THEIR LAST BREATH.
all death is a tragedy but especially those that could have possibly been prevented with quality leadership and strict measures to contain this deadly disease.

It’s very difficult to gauge...
I’ve said from the start that Disney wants no part of reopening...nothing since has moved me off that stance.
But they have to balance vacation club, the nba (which they want)...and the whole “we’re in it for the stockholders” stuff.
But Florida isn't trending right...hard to argue if you want to be taken seriously. And orange and Osceola counties aren’t exactly leading the pack.
As you know...it’s one thing for Disney to say “we’re safe”...
But they have no control of who’s driving in, who’s flying in, and who’s interacting with who coming on and off that site in a 75 mile radius of Florida.
It’s tough...it’s a tall order.

Of course not, and you do know millions of people have the exact same story, some even more tragic than the one you eloquently described and died in many cases from diseases and accidents etc that could have been prevented and some easily.
