Yes, I don't want to be the cause of someone else's death or illness. I like to think of myself as a human not a meman,.
username checks out, jk , ;)

seriously though I do respect your choice and viewpoint, I don’t think anybody wants to cause someone’s illness or death, nor do I, but we take more dangerous chances with other lives than with Covid going outside and those are acceptable by society. The news has failed us with the hyper focus data without context and scaring people, as evident even in this thread.

Here’s the thing I don’t get and maybe you can explain where you are coming from. I want to see things open and the economy come back. I want to be able to get back to some semblance of normal life. You obviously want things to be open too. Why are you so resistant to any of the mitigation steps that will help us get there? Just today you posted questioning the 6 foot physical distancing rule. You continuously try to discredit masks. You are entitled to whatever opinion you want, but without masks and distancing less things can be open and less of the economy will be working. There’s no need for science or proof on anything, this has everything to do with perception of the masses. Back to the topic of WDW, the parks are going to open soon but only because of those measures you are against.
Canada is doing fine and is not mandating masks. Never said we shouldn’t do mitigation to get open, just questioning some of the rules, maybe masks , 6 ft Foot aren’t really making a difference and what are they really based on. Might work might not, sure use whatever tool you have. not saying don’t wear a mask.

I think he was referring to all the posts saying, How can WDW open now ”insert latest case number here“
Here’s my take on that. We can’t keep everything closed forever. We also can’t just open everything and pretend the virus is gone. That’s black and white thinking. There’s a grey area or middle ground somewhere in between where we get most stuff open but with some measures in place and some restrictions.

I understand some of the extreme predictions made when we just didn't have enough data to understand what needed to be done. We cut it 10 fold (maybe initial was off but another time for that) The news is what you make of it. Just like data you can find anything you want to support your viewpoint so like most people I try to source form a wide field and distill what is logical. At this point we do know we can reduce spread with limiting contact, it is killing/incapacitating people and the world economy will take a very large hit later this year open or not. At this point I can make a little sacrifice for the rest of society by doing everything I can to prevent my spreading it.
I don't have a problem if you want to get in a kayak and paddle the mangroves or go to an island beach but for the huge beaches it causes thousands to descend on the beach towns. Might be good for business (lots of traffic in stores) but those people have to go home or back to work so it spreads.
It only will get worse if we don't change what we are doing now, we can see the results of what we have been doing the last three weeks and next month we get to see the death count spike. Yippieee!!!

Before the economy was shut down did you ever think we'd shut down the economy over a virus? I didn't and I bet most people didn't. It's going to take years to recover from this, but that was probably their plan all along.
If the virus was serious enough, yes. I have read about the depopulation of the Americas after the introduction of small pox and influenza. I knew the possibility that new viruses with that sort of devastating potential could develop in the future. I admit to not thinking the current crop of American politicians and many of its citizens would view this virus as serious enough to take as radical steps as they did.

But I did foresee an economic slowdown of unknown severity. This isn't 1957 or 1968 when people read their local newspaper and watched a half hour or 1 hour news program. There was no way people weren't going to see the pictures coming out of Europe and NYC, and friends descriptions on social media and message boards like this and not take their own steps toward "self-preservation." I just underestimated the percentage of people that would. I thought it would be more like 20-30% in favor of staying at home as much as possible.

There’s definitely some evidence that masks and distancing work. We have hundreds of years of research on how infectious diseases spread to know that. Just like hand washing and other proven methods of preventing a viral infection from spreading. We don’t need specific studies on this virus before deciding to implement those measures.

if masks didn't work, doctors would not have used them for decades 🤷‍♀️

Which is what is happening, no one is pretending this virus is gone, sure there are outliers but for the majority that is the case. much more of we cant do anything due to the fear created by the news

A perfect example of why some people going to an open place, effect people who never went there.

Local news story on it:https://www.freep.com/story/news/lo...lansing-coronavirus-grosse-pointe/3268551001/

Covid is very contagious. Even people who were not at the party or bar caught it. Like this girl who was at a bonfire with someone who had it from friends who were at the bar (and then probably infected her whole family too):

According to the mother, who requested anonymity to protect her family's privacy, her daughter did not go to Harper's or the party in Grosse Pointe Woods, but rather became infected after attending a bonfire with friends who had been exposed to the students who had gone to Harper's. Now her whole family is in quarantine, and she's worried, anxious and scared.

"It’s everywhere — and I get that. And perhaps she shouldn’t (have gone) to a bonfire," the mother said. "So now we wait for our test results and pray ... Praying is all we have."

The most important info, How many are mild cases , I am betting most , probably a good bit asymptomatic. Might have a few hospitalized knowing college students, bars and hydration. College bar, same thing happened outside UCF. really looking forward to all the posts about college bars coming up. ;)
