They are doing a study in the UK to look at whether minor COVID cases are leading to an increase in diabetes in people previously healthy. Concerns are that the pancreas is being attacked and affecting people's ability to regulate insulin.

A percentage of people will develop diabetes anyway. Just like many of the deaths were people actively dying. The scientific community hasn't exactly set a high standard with the way they have manipulated the numbers since this started. Same fear tactics used for AGW seem to be at play here.

My kingdom for scientists that haven't been politicized! If I had a kingdom.

What hath Nye and Gore wrought? Answer: Fear 😵

Yeah...that’s all wrong. Let’s not go down the “science is a hoax” path here for the upteenth time.

It’s a study...there may be nothing to it...or it could be a new wrinkle. Science solves problems...human denial of it causes them.

i have some swampland in the desert southwest to sell you.
Oh son...this isn’t the minefield to tip toe through...

I’ll throw you some numbers:
In 1988, 1 in every 2,400 Americans had type 1 diabetes...
2018? 1 in every 550.

You do the math. Type 2 has a much more steep uptick.

Why? Diet and environment...and resulting genetic predisposition.

I'm the last person who thinks science is a hoax which is why I get so angry when people manipulate it!

Yep...I kinda figured

Big ten...by the way.

Just my take...but if you’re “social distancing” in college, you’re not becoming “your best you” 😉

And one more thing: “college program is not a good idea” (Disney 3:16)

And sororities just don’t make sense now...I’ll stand on that hill. And yes, I know that would impact the business of Lilly Pulitzer greatly...but still.🤔
Lily is out with college girls! Think Golden Goose shoes, Koch skirts and Gucci but for us old sorority moms we still love a good Lily.

I did the college program early 90’s and I agree! 😉I feel like the hot tub at Vista Way was the breeding ground for a whole host of corona viruses .

Big 10 where they like to pretend they have big boy football teams! #SEC

Damn...I knew I was dated. True story though: I had my daughter at the “lily factory sale” when she was little...that was a teen drama explosion in retail form...

Yes...a lot of it was SEC. they made a pilgrimage to philly 😂

And we won’t go over those “flaws” in the college football wars. I don’t tailgate anymore 😉

Wait...you were in the tub at Vista??
...hmmmm

I blame the sugar. Sugar is the new nicotine. Fine in strict moderation but few consume it that way.

Good news though today in the US about 450K test runs with a positivity rate of only 4.1%, the lowest rate ever for the US and 375 deaths, one of the lowest days since 3/27. For perspective 7200 reported died today of something else

Blame whatever you want...just don’t be a nitwit that denies the facts and we’re good 😎

I'm questioning all the pseudo science around covid that has already been documented.

And would love to hear you comment on my previous statement...

"I'm the last person who thinks science is a hoax which is why I get so angry when people manipulate it!"

You often perpetuate fake science myths. Something a few here do.

Where are you getting you're percent positive number??? According to the Florida DoH current data, it isn't anywhere near that.

The death rate is also going down as well:

The death chart on the FL site is extremely misleading. The site says itself that it take 14 days for reports of COVID deaths to be fully collated. This means that graph always looks like it's going down to zero. If you kept your eye on the current day which looks like almost no deaths, just wait two weeks and it will be changed to reflect all the death reports that trickle in.

The New York Times contacts all the counties daily and has recent numbers...

Not bad numbers. Always expected some increases. There just aren't any easy answers for this situation. For me the most important stats are percentage requiring hospitalization and % of those that recover. Can only hope they are figuring out best practices or that the virus is losing lethality.

There is easy answers. Keep social distancing, wearing masks and wash your hands. Work on better contact tracing and things will be better. The problem becomes most people could care less do any of that.

I hear you. But you can't blame me people are cynical these days. This is why politicizing science and every aspect of life is so detrimental. Been happening for decades and people have tuned out. Cynicism dumbs people down. Makes them easy to manipulate. Very sad.

Chicken Little crying wolf so to speak.

So nothing?

Is that how the “make it up and hope it’s true” art of engagement goes?
...plenty of posts to look through for my backing of “fake science”...take your time.

Mostly because I'm tired and have a headache and don't want to deal with a debate with you anymore. Nothing personal just been there done that. But I'll keep that reminder just in case. You've mellowed a lot from your more radical days. 😜
